Le Jardin - Chaumont

We had been traveling all day and were excited to find this charming restaurant, but them very unpleasantly surprised to hear the hostess/waitress tell us that all the tables were reserved even though only two were taken in the whole restaurant on a Thursday night at 8:00. Obviously she wanted to close early even though the restaurant is supposed to be open until 10:00 and we arrived at 8:00. A group seated in the restaurant were so embarrassed that the hostess had treated us like this that they tried to give us suggestions for other restaurants. This experience really gave me a bad impression of Chaumont

We arrived in Chaumont late in the evening, mid way to our top back to Calais, and we just wanted a nice and quick meal: we found this place by chance, after we discovered that another restaurant we were looking for (based on Trip Advisor) was closed. It is on a small and quit side road, and the names say it all: there is this nice little garden you can sit outside, and we really liked the idea. I went for an entrecôte with Lagren (a local cheese from a nearby town) melted on top, and it came served with fried potatoes (not quite chips, but cubes) like those made by grand ma, and a green and tomatoes salad: it was a fantastic steak and at a very good price. My wife went for the menu of the day, my daughter for fettuccine with Loren (same melted cheese as above). We had red house wine and it was very good. All in all, truly recommended, at about 50 euros for three people, including wine, you can't really ask for better value for money than this.

My favorite burger in the world. I miss this place and the owner! It is tucked away in an alley, but is one of my favorite restaurants I will always remember.

Dishes made with very good fresh products, salmon and deer. desserts made of chocolate. . the waitress is reactive and effective. I don't understand a few comments about the price of drinks, because there is no surprise, prices are displayed. If these prices seem excessive, you can ask for a carafe of water.
