The Shady Pine Family Restaurant

Always good basic food though we only go for Breakfast, Always busy as it is a popular spot that has been around for a Great many years.

The sign on the front said "Shady Pines Coffee Shop". We were searching for breakfast early Sunday morning, not wishing to partake of the skimpy continental breakfast offering at our motel. Located on the eastern outskirts of Chatham, we were first attracted by the many cars in the parking lot.Entering the outwardly humble establishment, we were greeted by a very typical (in a good way) small town diner, well filled with chatty local families and couples.The walls were decorated with historic pictures of the founders and the restaurant (they offered cabins also). On the rear wall was a newspaper printing showing the grand opening in 1954, and the special for the day, a full turkey dinner for $1.00.The food was better than average, and service was very cordial...but the real attraction is the old time hospitality and atmosphere. We would definitely return.

This restaurant has very good breakfasts with a lot of choices. They have a 3.99 specials. During the week they have lunch specials on the board. They also make their own soups and great desserts It is quite a busy place

Terrible service. Been three times because we kept telling ourselves to give them a chance. Wont be back a fourth. Always seems like they have new staff but i know theyve been there for a while. Bathroom disgusting made me lose my appetite and our table was dirty when we got there. A small plate of home fries as a side was way too over priced as well. Saw them put dirty dishes out in the open on the counter in front of all the customers for everyone to see. Way too hot in there to. No AC to cool down the place. Entire place smells like grease. The dish washer also had head phones in and was on his phone when he would come out to the dishes bin. Got a dirty look when i didnt leave a tip, wasnt earned though. Place wasn't even packed and our food took an hour to come out. We were in there for nearly 2 hours. We will not be back and I suggest you do not go there

Stopped here for breakfast. Busy little place and we know why. Great food, great service. Definitely return next time we are in the area.
