What Pia Majkowski dislikes about Scalini Fedeli - Chatham:
We had to wait almost a half hour past our reservation time for our table. Service was not very attentive for the way the restaurant is billed. Tagliatelle delicious. Snapper good. Desserts good. But we traveled over 45 min and there are other great options near us. View all feedback.

Eat delicious, ambiente beautiful, we celebrated my birthday, but plan, again as regular!
Beautiful setting...soft colors and indirect lighting in the escaping area. very dedicated staff. eat fantastic. wonderful culinary experience. eat perfectly cooked and presented. kellner well versed in the menu. the best of the best.
Scalini never disappoints. recommend the tagliatelle and do not miss these Italian donuts. service is always great.
Excellent service and fantastic prix fixe menu. Highly recommend!
Food was Delicious an Service Wonder full! Highly recommend
This upscale restaurant offers excellent food prepared with care and high-quality ingredients, making it a great choice for special occasions. While the service was generally good, some reviewers found it slow and disorganized. The atmosphere is a bit noisy, especially with more diners present, so it's best to come early for a quieter experience. Some customers had mixed experiences with the food and service, while others enjoyed the romantic ambiance and delicious meals. The prices are on the higher side, but the overall dining experience was still worth it for many patrons.

I recently moved to Chatham and brought my family to this restaurant. It was fantastic and we will definitely be returning soon.
The food was absolutely delicious! The restaurant was a bit noisy, but we were seated to the left as we walked into the dining room, so it wasn't too bothersome. I would definitely return.
Outstanding food with attentive service in a comfortable dining room
Great service but the first and second course were too quick the veal scalopini was ok pastas excellent chocolates great coffee great m
This is a great, old-school Italian restaurant. The food was great. Very good value. The restaurant itself could use an updating but, in a way, the current setup enhances the old-school vibe.

The dining experience at this restaurant is always fantastic. The cozy atmosphere is enjoyable and the food is incredibly delicious.
Price fixed menu with excellent options. Generous portions of high quality and exceptional flavors. Valet parking
I’ve been hearing good things about Scalini Fedeli for a few years now, so when my wife and I finally got a babysitter for a night we decided to try it for the first time. The first impression we got was just how incredibly charming the restaurant is. Kinda like upscale farmhouse chic. We were early for our reservation so the hostess politely informed us our table wasn’t quite ready and offered us a glass of Prosecco. When we were seated in the dining room we were immediately impressed by the curved vaulted ceilings and large columns that sort of broke the room up into smaller sections. Overall very cozy and comfortable feel. The service was very prompt and very accommodating. We got the feeling that everyone truly wanted us to enjoy our experience. The food was excellent but perhaps had a couple imperfections: for example my pappardelle with ossobucco and marrow jus was utterly dominated by an overwhelming flavor of rosemary. And my duck breast was good, but I’m not quite sure I would order it again. The star of our show was my wife’s linguini carbonara. Simple, classic (American style: with cream instead of egg yolk) but silky, savory and exactly what you want when you order carbonara. We added a course that I loved as well: butternut squash agnolotti in brown butter and sage. Decadent. And the “primi piccolo” (kind of like an amuse bouche) was excellent as well. Overall Scalini Fedeli comes in at 4.75 stars due to some nit-picking on my part (at a restaurant of this caliber the server should crumb the table in between courses) but we had an excellent experience and a fantastic date night.
Excellent!! Beautiful room, attentive service and super eats... For a special night...
Why go to what is declared the best restaurant in NJ, the food of course and it was disappointing; maybe there was too much hype. The service was exceptional as was the chairs and surroundings; but most important is the food. For the amount the pricing was on the high side. We were a party of 8 and almost alone in the restaurant..

Can't go wrong with this place. Comfortable friendly laid back and delicious. Deep dishes out the goodness and graciousness of Chicago!
Truly a wonderful dining experience!! The atmosphere inside is beautiful. Each course of food was amazing!! From the bread on the table upon arrival through dessert. My only complaint was the service at the end of our meal. We had a 630 Tuesday reservation for a group of 6 (business dinner). At 830, the servers took everything off the table (the glasses, the flowers, the candle) and put their coats on and stood off to the side staring at us. It was a poor ending to a really wonderful dinner that left us with a bad taste, hence the 4 stars. I expect better from a restaurant like this.
Overall ambience and service was very pleasant minus 1 2 people on staff. Our actual waiter was very accommodating and entertaining. Food hits all the marks one expects in a Jersey Italian restaurant, but small things were lacking that just made it fine but not memorable. Dinner is a 4 course pre fixe with a starter and palate cleanser. I had a chicken special as my main course it felt more like a southern or typical American dish with just chicken, pile of mashed potatoes and gravy everywhere on the dish. The chicken was cooked well but not much there in terms of enjoyable flavors. The dish was also supposed to have prosciutto but I got maybe two tiny bits that could have been bacon. The chicken dish on their regular menu sounded pretty great and more typical Italian but I figured the special would have a bit more oompf(I was wrong) On to issue with 1 2 staff members they seem to change the vibe as they look to provide Parmesan or black pepper but forcefully provide bare minimum and move on without allowing you to decide if it's enough or you need more. The dessert was very okay. I truly enjoyed the palate cleanser (lemon sorbet) much more than the actual dessert (the chocolate cake). It felts too dense and the cherry sauce just didn't add to the dish and overwhelmed the overall flavor. Other diners I was with enjoyed their respective dishes but also felt each item felt short of memorable.
Visited Scalini Fedeli on a Tuesday night after a break of years. We are fortunate to have one of the sister restaurants, Locanda Vecchia, only about a mile from our house so hadn't gone to Chatham in some time. We'll be back sooner. It was such a lovely, gracious meal. The food is excellent but if you know the chef or eat at any of his restaurants that isn't a surprise. What is so nice is that it is restaurant dining the way it used to be when going out to dinner was an event. The service is always warm and friendly, the environment calm and quiet enough that you can actually have a conversation with the people you are dining with without having to lean in close to their ear. You are never rushed and each course comes out with enough of a break that you are happy to see the food but never feel like you waited too long. I had the veal saltimbucca a favorite, and a pasta special I can't remember the name of but made me pause just to savor. It is nice to get portions that make you feel like the expense is worth it. This is a splurge for sure but totally worth it.
This restaurant has such great food and great service. The 4 course price fix is a steal for the amount of food and selection. They also have great cocktails. I've come here many times and have never been disappointed. This is far better cuisine than the typical American Italian restaurant. I love how their carbonara isn't the Americanized heavy cream version and it's actually the authentic dish. It's pretty inside with romantic decor. I've been here on dates and with a group of 6 and the ambiance fits for both.
