The Genepi does not... read more We spend a fair amount of time in Châtel both summer and winter and I think this place is great and am bemused by some of the poor reviews. The Genepi does not set out to offer fine dining (try the Vieux Four for that)...but what it does, it does really well. A selection of classic French dishes e.g. Duck foie gras and frogs legs but also delicious burgers and pizzas, really excellent crêpes both savoury and sweet, plus a varying selection of specials. Service is great, really fast and friendly, and English speaking if you need it. As good for a late morning coffee and crêpe as it is for a family meal in the evening.

The service was friendly and quick, my burger la ranch was absolutely covered in barbecue sauce and the bacon was a couple of pieces of ham, not good! My wife had...tartichevre which was ok. Will not rush back

T... read more We've had dinner here two times during our stay in Chatel and decided to go with French specialties: Fondue and Raclette while a friend had burger both times. The food was served very fast which was a really nice surprise. I can't say if these...specialties were better or worse comparing to other places but we really liked them. According to a friend, it was one of the best burgers he had (maybe that's the reason for a high price). We never made it to the desserts, so I can't say too much there. The staff is very polite, responsive and speaks English good enough. I also liked that they managed to deal with my name for the reservation and I know it is a difficult one to handle for French people
