What Marc Karin doesn't like about L'Atelier Cafe:
On the plus side: friendly staff, nice menu and wine list, decently prised. Regrettably, food was not very good: not everything was homemade i think and some combinations just did not match. And please, do not serve a gin-tonic in a coke glass. View all feedback.
This used to be a very nice place to eat. Classy setting and a good address. I remember a decent menu, good wine list and superb cheese board. On the night we dined there there was nothing left from a few years ago. The wine list was extremely short and even then some wines were out of stock. The menu was extremely limited and offered on a small black board. We asked for the A la Carte menu, they didn’t have one so we had to choose from the very limited choice. The Filet steak was ok, but very small for 26.50€ and had a splodge of mashed potatoes and a piece of asparagus as a garnish. Very disappointing ! We asked for a plate of cheese between us remembering the handsome cheese board) we got sighs from the waiter and a plate with 3 pieces of cheese on it! The waiter should be doing another job! At last a little digestif, 3 Calvados please? Sorry we don’t have any! We have Jet which is like Colgate toothpaste! I just don’t understand. The management is obviously squeezing every last drop out of their restaurant, surely the practically empty restaurant must be a message?

This the Hotel Colbert restaurant. Apparently from what we have heard, the restaurant is not under the hotel management anymore, and this change is a disaster. We stayed at Hotel Colbert several times, and we used to enjoy very simple but well prepared and very dishes at a very reasonable price. The restaurant is now very expensive, and the dishes are sincerely not good either from the Ardoise menu or a la carte. As an example, as we stayed there twice in July 2017, the first time we took the Ardoise menu, and everything was dry and tasteless, so we tried A la Carte the next time, and thing were not better, especially something which I found terrible in the middle of France. I ordered La Piece du Boucher which by its name should be a beautiful piece of meat. What was served to me was a thin, hard and sincerely not nice piece of meat, well done when I ordered medium rare. My wife was not placed in a better situation with what he ordered. Next time, we will stay at Hotel Colbert because we like it, but we will by pass the restaurant, unless they change their attitude and probably the chef. What a pity.
