Sileby Cottage Chinese Resturant

I ordered crispy beef in Cantonese sauce, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, and spring rolls. The beef was overcooked to the point where it was unrecognizable. The sauce tasted like a strange combination of sweet and sour, BBQ, and boiled onions, and was too watery. The bamboo shoots were tough and the spring rolls only contained bamboo shoots, with no shrimp or meat. Overall, the food was not good and it seemed like it was poorly cooked.

I have to say, this was the worst Chinese meal I have ever experienced. It was delivered shortly after I arrived home, and upon opening the container, it looked and smelled atrocious. I cannot fathom how they could have let this food leave the kitchen. I strongly advise against wasting your time, money, or risking your health at this establishment. This is the first time I have felt compelled to leave a review, despite enjoying Chinese takeout for over three decades.

I typically order from this restaurant, but the last meal we had was not very good. I thought it might have been a one-time incident, so I gave it another try. Unfortunately, the food was even worse this time and tasted bland. We ended up throwing it in the trash.

Got wrong order so I went back, the man was saying I got the my own order wrong and that I should know what I have ordered, which I fact said the right dish. He didn’t even say sorry or offer me a refund for his own mistake all well and good being quite to take the cash. He made another, put it on the counter and when back inside. HOW RUDE Definitely not going back too expensive and having to go back to get the right dish was not worth it.

We’ve just had an impromptu takeaway from this Chinese. First time, the food was fresh and delicious. Can recommend chicken satay, chicken chow mein, and chicken curry, fried rice etc. Lovely food and quick. We collected.
