While it boasts a lovely setting perfect for families, especially those with young children, the service has garnered criticism for being inattentive and occasionally rude. Diners have reported that the food quality is average and prices are inflated, with limited gluten-free options offered. However, many appreciate the delightful array of cakes, excellent coffee, and a charming outdoor seating area. Despite its shortcomings, the location is praised for its historical significance and family-friendly activities, making it a worthwhile, albeit imperfect, visit.
This restaurant is a relaxed and welcoming spot with a delightful assortment of cakes and a variety of ice creams. They also offer a wide range of other dishes such as paninis. The outdoor seating area is dog-friendly, but can be a bit chilly in the winter. The abundance of signs can be a bit overwhelming. There is ample parking available, although it can be crowded on busy days. The restaurant also has disabled facilities and is connected to a rail museum.
I do not recommend this restaurant for those with gluten allergies. The bread is small, unpleasant tasting, and expensive. The gluten-free options are limited and the portion sizes are too small. I left feeling hungry and with a bad taste in my mouth from the bread. I had written a more detailed review earlier but cannot find it. I am disappointed because this restaurant used to be excellent.
The café is always bustling, which is a good indicator of delicious food at affordable prices.
Maybe more for children but coffee and cake were OK , milkshake less so. Seems to have a selection of activities but for food and drink there are better, cheaper places nearby
It's a very good cafe with a lot of light meal options not just coffee, cake, etc. We had chilli jacket potato and cheese and ham quiche with salad.
