read moreA year ago, we were invited for dinner at this place.A couple of days before that, we had been in the Bairrada region where this way of preparing baby pigs originated.I was afraid the one at Charneca would not be as good as the one from Bairrada.I was wrong!Central dos Leitões cooks and serves piglets that are as good as those at the best Bairrada restaurants. It is a quite simple restaurant but it has two huge advantages: air conditionoing and a large private parking. With the meal, since its start, I recommend their light white sparkling wine.In most Portuguese restaurants, tourists avoid accepting the appetizers because they are charged on the bill.At Central dos Leitões I recommend that you accept at least the piglet spread. It is a home made sort of delicious mousse. On a piece of local bread, it is really nice.Friendly service.

Served with fat thick potato crisps and salad. The local wines are fine. The service is friendly. Enough English among the staff to manage (I speak Portuguese). It is an awkward bus journey from Cacilhas if you start from Lisbon, easier in a car or a cab.We have been for several lunches and also early in the evening. No idea what it is like when busy.
