Smitty's Family Restaurant

I'm a fan of the Smitty's franchise but was disappointed with my first visit to this location. I asked for something to be left out of my omelette but it came with the item. To their credit, the entire dish was discounted off the bill....More

Stopped here for lunch, my first time here. They have a glass covered gallery so I sat there as i had stuff inside my truck cab i wanted to keep an eye on. Good place for a motorcycle to park too so you can keep and eye on your bike if you have a lot of baggage. Lots of parking.The lunch specials are under $10, mostly $9.95. I ordered the terriacki chicken special for $9.95. It was a good size plate. It said "chicken and fries" or any type of potato you wanted> mashed, fries, whole spud, etc. The chicken breast was small, maybe half a breast but then again it was lunch. One thing I liked about most restaurants on PEI is that there is always other food added that they don't mention, and this time it was sliced carrots and mashed turnips. The turnips were good and I usually don't like them but these were well cooked and they added something extra to it which i don't know what it was but made it tasty! Basically a whole sit down meal in a nice atmosphere with meal for $10. They even gave me a desert which was a cinnemon bun broken up in a dish with a caramel type sauce and some whipped cream. Nice touch! I was full and felt good! Service was very good, friendly, they have a hostess who comes around right away and continues to fill your coffee cup until you don't want any more. What more can you ask for, a cheap decent lunch!

Smitty's isn't somewhere we would normally go eat, but we had family visiting and they suggested it. This had to be the worst service and breakfast I've ever had. I waited 45 minutes just for my tea to arrive. The eggs and toast were cold, and the hash browns were not cooked thoroughly and were cold as well. A party of 5 adults and two children.. no one liked their meals. Very disappointing.

My wife and I visited for lunch. We normally go for breakfast which is always good. I had the beef dip(my go to meal when it's offered at any restaurant). The au jus was nothing but beef base and water with no taste what so ever. I had to add vinegar and salt to add some sort of flavour to it. The beef was boiled dry which made it taste like it was sitting in the fridge for way to long. Good thing I added cheese to the sandwich, which wasn't apart of the meal. Needless to say I won't be ordering the dip again. However we will return for the breakfast which is always good as I said.

We had never been to a Smitty's before, and I was surprised by the size of the menu and variety. The food itself was okay - certainly nothing outstanding, but I can see the appeal for this as an affordable family restaurant.
