Stopped here on the way to Myrtle Beach based on Yelp reviews and because we like to try local places when we travel. Hot dogs with everything means mustard, chili, and coleslaw. They have hot or mild chili and the hot was not terribly hot. Interesting combo but they were tasty and the grilled buns made them seem special. This is definitely a hole in the wall but it was easy to get to off the interstate. The clerks w... View all feedback.
What Christopher R doesn't like about Sam's Hot Dogs:
Why go there? I'm a hot dog fan. I ordered a dog with chili, slaw, mustard and onion. I was the only one in the place, 5 PM on a Friday. It doesn't take much to please me. The buns were a little stiff and the dog was kind of cold. I purchased two hot dogs from the Sam's location in Cross Lanes a few days ago. I usually enjoy Sam's, but this time the hot dogs were practically inedible. They were out of the traditional buns, the sauce on them tasted old and burnt, there were no onions as requested, and there was a lack of mustard. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.
Pennsylvania Avenue in Charleston, West Virginia is my go-to spot for delicious hot dogs while on the road. I give it top marks for excellent service and top-notch food quality.
Best hotdogs around!!! Pepperoni rolls are Awesome too!!! Love evetything I've tried so far! Friendly staff too!
I used to love Sam's hot dogs! However, the last two times I visited, I was so disappointed that I probably won't be going back. The buns were stale and my food was lukewarm. It's a shame, because they used to have the best hot dogs in town. As a hot dog enthusiast, this was a major letdown.
Delicious homemade style dogs. Got em fully loaded. Slaw and chili. Just a basic but simple joy. Reminds me of a gas station hotdog from the south. I mean that in a good way. It's to go. So no seating. That's fine with me. I'd definitely go back. A couple minutes after getting to the side window and your on your way. Get a few if you are really hungry. 2 was not enough...but is 2 ever enough?
