The food is disappointing for the price, and to... read more I wouldn't give any stars if I could. My friends strongly advised against this place, and now I understand why. The food is disappointing for the price, and to make matters worse, it's far from authentic. I ordered the rigatoni, and it arrived tasteless and without any sauce. Even when I examined it more closely, it just looked unappetizing—truly awful. I also ordered a Negroni cocktail, which took 20 minutes to arrive and tasted more like cough medicine than anything else. I tried their classic gin and tonic as well, but it left me unimpressed. Honestly, I could have just had water and saved myself $20. Italian food should at least be delicious, but Melfi's is definitely on my list of Italian restaurants to avoid.

A downtown gourmet restaurant on upper King St. The historic site is a renovated pharmacy with a metal tin ceiling and arched windows. Known for the freshly made pasta dishes, I enjoyed the linguini and clams. Perfect. White table clothes and a team of waiters look after your every need. Wonderful appetizers and goodp wines. What a special treat. This is my daughter's favorite restaurant.

We have been... read more My wife and I are Italian Americans who were born and raised in the Bronx and remained in the NY area until relocating to Charleston in October 21. We have been making the rounds of top Charleston restaurants of which there are many. However we were hesitant to try Italian. Yes we are food snobs especially with Italian food. My wife is an excellent cook and we have been to Italy many times. Eat Italian in South Carolina, ugh! Well we took the plunge at Melfi’s and came away fans. Great thin crust pizza shared as appetizer. My wife Caico de Pepe and my linguine with clams both superb. Excellent cocktails, nice wine list , delicious deserts and service you would expect in such a fine restaurant by John (who also happened to be an Italian American from the Bronx) all this takes place in a 200 year old building located on upper King Street. Great atmosphere. Would not hesitate to return or recommend! Well done!

From the unique flavor combos, artistically crafted cocktails, delicious deserts, and 5 star service, we left in anticipation of our nextvisit. Recommendations: Osso Bucco, Grilled Branzino,, Paccheri, CHOCOLATE CHERRY PUDDING, and the spicy Caesar. The specialtycocktails were also delish, loved the “prince harry” Well done and thank you ????

The food is underwhelming for the price and to make it even worse it is not even close to authentic. I ordered the RIGATONI, it came out with no taste orsauce. After I opened it up for leftovers it looked even worst, just Awful. I also ordered a cocktail, a Negroni. It took 20mins actually tasted like cough medicine I sent it back. I ordered their classic gin tonic was still not impressed. Ishould’ve just stuck to the water saved $20. Italian food should be at the minimum delicious. Melfi’s is bottom of mylist for Italian do not bother to come here.
