Malagón - Charleston
Malagón
Description
This compact tapas spot serves authentic Spanish flavors with house-made sourdough and memorable desserts like Basque cheesecake, churros and olive-oil ice cream. Warm, attentive service and convivial bar seating create a cozy, family-friendly vibe ideal for dates or small groups. The menu offers varied small plates—some brilliantly executed, others uneven, occasionally overcooked or underseasoned—with modest portions that can make dining pricey. Wine choices are limited and skew expensive. Best for intimate evenings rather than large parties or serious wine connoisseurs.

This tapas restaurant is outstanding, featuring prompt and friendly service, delicious food, and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The menu is quite diverse, ensuring there's something for everyone in your group. However, the space is a bit tight, and the tables are small, so I wouldn't suggest it for larger gatherings. I also enjoyed the music selection, which enhanced the overall vibe. All in all, I believe it's a wonderful spot for a date.
Malagon is a delightful little restaurant that certainly deserves your attention. It's a wonderful spot to enjoy some excellent wine and tapas! They bake their own sourdough bread, which is exceptional and pairs beautifully with menu items like "charcuteria y queso" or "carne." We also tried the seafood paella, which was bursting with flavor and can genuinely be called an authentic Spanish paella. I absolutely loved it! For dessert, we ordered churros, and they were simply fantastic—fresh and hot, just perfect.
This restaurant offers a delightful atmosphere, attentive service, and a cozy, family-friendly ambiance. The service is exceptional and well-timed, creating a seamless dining experience without any rush. This helps create a relaxed and enjoyable meal. The dishes are perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. With a diverse menu full of options, this place is a definite must-visit when in Charleston. I can't wait to return again and again.
Love this place! Fantastic take on Spanish cuisine. So well done! Everything! The bread that is made here is by far the best I?ve had in a while. The clams a surprise to me, and it made it so much better with the bread. Heavenly. Will be back.
This was my first time in Charleston and our group hadn't put much thought into dinner. Tapas sounded like a good idea so our group headed out. Malagón had a quite extensive menu which accommodated the group. The prices varied a bit, so you can easilyend up with an expensive bill. We were able to balance indulging in a few unique things and some more affordable items. It's aneat little space suitable for small groups or intimate dining.
