I stopped by here with my son sometime after 12:30am on a Friday night after leaving the Vintage Movie Theater. We stood outside for a solid 10 minutes looking at the online menu before deciding to go in. When I went in, I looked at the actual menu for awhile. It then started to get busy. I ended up getting in line around 12:45am. While waiting in line, fresh chicken came out andof course I didn?t get it. I ordered the dark meat combo with cabbage, mashed potatoes, and cornbread. I finally got my foodaround 1am. The mashed potatoes and cabbage was delicious! I had a huge helping of mashed potatoes. I hadn?t had either, especially cabbage, in so long. My thigh was really crispy, warm/hot, and delicious. My drumstick, on the other hand, was on thelukewarm/cooler scale and not crispy at all. The cornbread was somewhat of a let down. I was really expecting more and wonderedif I should?ve gotten the biscuit instead. While it was fairly large in size, it tasted overcooked. It wasn?t nasty and I ateit, but it definitely wasn?t a nice piece of golden cornbread. Overall, for it to be a place open 24/7 and selling soul food, itwasn?t bad. I would come back.

Great service, the food is absolutely amazing!! The decor is getting tired. I missed the history on the walls until I was leaving. I know it's tricky, how to update but not lose the original character. But overall absolutely the best southern foodI've had!! I had the fried chicken, greens, and sweet potatoes.

It was good. If everything was hot it would be 5 stars. I did get it delivered and it was 20 minutes away so maybe that had something to do with it. I can see the fried chicken being really good fresh out the fryer. Mashed potatoes and mac cheesewas okay. Homefries arrived lukewarm but well seasoned. Biscuits were great! Cinnamon roll was the best thing though. Sogood. I'll come back but at a different time of day.

My family is here out of town and everything I researched said to eat here and so we did. We tried the famous Chicken n' Cheddar biscuit, mac and cheese, fried okra, cinnamon roll, and sweet potato pie. The sandwich overall was a bit dry, but stilldelicious. The biscuit alone was so amazing. The mac and cheese was nothing special, I've had better but I've had worse. We hadnever tried fried okra but it was delicious too. The cinnamon roll was great, as was the pie. I was really excited to see thatthey had Cherrywine on their beverage list as that was something we wanted to try. It's so good and very unique. Overall, thiswas a nice and inexpensive stop to try local foods!

I live close by and this is apparently a Chapel Hill landmark so I had to check it out. It?s okay honestly. Not amazing or astounding but also not bad. I had the famed Chicken N Cheddar Biscuit sandwich with fries. The sandwich itself is pretty dry, including the chicken, and so it would benefit a lot from some kind of sauce or moisture. I didn?t have it on hand but I canimagine hot sauce would accompany this well. But besides the dryness, the buttery biscuits are delicious and really help inputting the sandwich down. And the fries are well-seasoned. I wouldn?t say the food is any special but you get a large portion(I was surprised how big the sandwich was when I first opened it) for the price and it is extremely convenient (open 24/7). Sothat alone bumps it up to 4 stars. Solid food but nothing special. But good value for its price.
