We celebrated our anniversary at Il Palio in Siena and every time we dine there, it's always amazing. We visited last night and I'm still blown away by the experience. What Joseph Scarano doesn't like about Il Palio:
Very disappointed in the quality and value. Pasta was overcooked, not al dente for a supposedly authentic Italian restaurant. Entree (secondi) was outrageously overpriced. I ordered the scallops. I received 3 medium sized scallops with a smear of garnish for $48. This portion was less than an appetizer portion. Highly disappointed and will not recommend to anyone. View all feedback.
Have loved the ambiente! my partner and I grabbed drinks after work here and they were incredible! thoughtful, unique, and *most important* delicious. the bartender was attentive and gave us very helpful pointer in selecting our drinks. we will come back absolutely and could not recommend this jewel anymore!
Chef's tasting menu with wine pairing did not disappoint. The various dishes built to a climax when the main dishes came. Without question I did not leave hungry!
Broad and unique menu. Great food! Best Polenta ever!
Much better than expected! Great service, great cocktails, decent wine list, really good food. Pappardelle bolognese was as good as any we have had, and the branzino was excellent. Grilled artichokes were perfect. Almond cake with strawberries and whipped cream was just the right combination. Nice salads.
Breakfast is their best meal service but dinner is good as well. For dinner stick to the pastas which have been consistently excellent. The grill is good but has been hit or miss over several stays. The steak last night was ordered medium rare, and it was mostly medium rare but had one end medium well. The quality of ingredients is always very good. The bar makes a stiff drink and is a good value.
