A Chapel Hill classic.... Farmhouse is great. While it might not be considered a high-brow steak-house, it is still most definitly an establishment worthy of regard. Farmhouse is a classic, all-American restaurant. The people, the decor, and the food, make this place a real treat. Try it. View all feedback.
What B D doesn't like about Farm House:
I wanted to give this feedback directly to the restaurant but they don't have an email or form on their website so this will be more public. Was very disappointed in my meal. I love a filet and have never eaten one at a restaurant that had so much fat and gristle--was it even a filet? And, the flavor was average. The salad seemed to be scooped out of a bag. The potato was dry. The bacon bits were out of a glass jar--... View all feedback.

I hadn’t heard of Farm House restaurant before, but my husband suggested last weekend that we give it a shot. Thank goodness for GPS, otherwise I don’t think we would have ever found the place. It’s north of Chapel Hill, a ways off 40. When you see Allen Son you turn in onto Millhouse Rd, then right before you cross the railroad tracks, you turn into a small, 1 lane gravel driveway. The parking lot is more gravel, and the walkway to the restaurant is even more gravel, so don’t wear your fancy shoes. We were a bit confused a bit as to where the entrance was, as it all looked like just a solid wall of wood. But yes, there is a large wooden door that swings outward, with a nice little sign asking you to please close it. Side Salad with Honey Mustard The interior of the restaurant is very dark, no windows at all, and smells very much like an authentic barn or farmhouse. I suppose that smell really never goes away. The interior reminded me a lot of Angus Barn, except it was even more rust
Great steakhouse with a friendly staff been around since 1969. Owned by the same family for generations! This place is a hidden Jem.
Look: they've got essentially one thing on the menu, and it's steak. There's some apps, and they're fine. There's a salad and a potato, and they're fine too. The wine and beer list exist. They won't change your life. You come here for steak. (Which comes on a sizzler plate, so maybe order rarer than you usually do. They do this one thing and they do it exceptionally well, and for the price of a far lesser steakhouse. 12/10, will steak again. (Ps: that's cheese and a chicken liver pate as your complimentary dips.
One of the best ribeyes around! The Farmhouse in Chapel Hill/Hillsborough area is out in the woods off a narrow gravel road. Very casual but the service and food were excellent! Our first course was a plate of pate’ and cheese dip with carrots, celery and crackers; so tasty. I had an ice cold beer with my dinner but the steak was outstanding! Even the baked potato was great. Two suggestions: 1. ditch the carpet. It looks old and musty. 2. add burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches. We were too full to eat dessert but will try later. While it’s a little pricey: tax, tip, 2 beers, ribeye dinner for one about $40, we will be back.
