This is probably the best fish and chips on the island, even though it doesn't have the traditional or classic appearance. It's a popular spot among locals who come for the delicious food. The ambiance is a bit casual, nestled in a busy traffic area, but it adds to its charm, even in the winter weather.
It's really more of a 3.5. As a Yorkshireman, I have high standards when it comes to my fish and chips. The chips were a little dry, but still decent. The fish was large and flavorful, though not as light as I prefer. However, it was still quite enjoyable. The mushy peas were excellent, and all of this came at a great price. I will definitely return.
Consistently and without doubt the best fish and chips on the island. I have to drive past two other places on the way there and do so with a smile on my face. The batter is so crispy it holds the weight of the fish on its own. I’m yet to find a bone. The chips are perfect. That’s all I can say about them. I asked my 4 year old what she wanted for her birthday and she said chips from here and I understand why. If I get reincarnated as a fish I won’t be disappointed if I end up in their deep fat fryer. Whatever they do,they just need to keep doing it.
