This place is outstanding. The servers and chef's are very warm and helpful with a great atmosphere. Have been back several times and each gets better then the first. If you want some real Japanese sushi that is prepared by professionals, this is the place to be. Try the Omakase plate, you will not regret it. View all feedback.
What Benton Frala doesn't like about Kodo Sushi Sake:
I’ve ordered here several times over the last year or two and this last experience with their staff was my final straw. Don’t waste your time ordering online here. The “host” guy in glasses makes you wait an extra half hour to pick up your orders and then scolds you for taking time out of his day. One of the rudest people I have ever met in my life. I understand they’re busy at times but they literally do not care ab... View all feedback.
It wasn’t the best sushi, the sushi rice is purple. The lady who attended us was pretty gentil but took over 15 minutes to attend us. Once she took the order, the service was fast.
The food is outstanding and I will deal with the other issues just to have the food. The guy who usually works as host is chaotic and disorganized, leading to longer wait times than necessary. He stresses me out just watching him walk in circles while people wait for tables. They need a more standardized system for taking names and seating people than what they've implemented so far.
Love the healthier black rice they use. Tastes the same with added nutrients and antioxidants! Also the owner is a fun guy. Loves to make people laugh. The Mongolian beef is my dad's favorite. And the sushi selection is great. Try the poki, it's my mom's favorite.
I don’t have a good experience today. This place is not authentic Japanese restaurant but run by Koreans pretending. The sushi rice is blackened rice which rarely in Japanese cuisine and tastes awful. The lunch special rolls are super shrunken copy of the regular rolls and nowhere in their menu tells customers about this bait and switch. And the Crazy roll is randomly plated that is piled up with a bunch of loose fish pieces and blackened rice. It doesn’t look like a roll. I have talked to their waitress who was very defensive and had the worst customer service. I will not go back again.
Excellent sushi and drinks. The service is excellent and the quality of fish is top notch! Highly recommend this place as it's one of my favorite places for sushi in AZ!
