This is not your average Chinese takeout restaurant. Walk in and you will see the staff making dumplings that you won't regret trying. I'm no expert, but I believe the menu is Northeastern Chinese cuisine so it's a refreshing change of pace from your average Chinese food restaurant. The food quality is phenomenal and the staff is friendly. It gets busy in peak hours with lots of regulars. You will not be disappointed... View all feedback.
Everything was excellent! Food, service could not have been better. Homemade noodles with beef and gluten free noodles are to die for
Since I moved to Chandler, I haven't found my go to Chinese restaurant yet... UNTIL TODAY. This place is money.Besides the tastiness of all the food, the owner is walking around talking to the guests and she is so amazingly cute of awesome:Great experience and incredible food.Don't let the outside of this shopping center fool you, this place is definitely worth a try
First timers here...came completely off the Yelp reviews for this place. When we arrived, we were immediately recognized and asked take-out or dining in. We wanted to dine in and were told to choose one of the empty tables. We were were also advised that they were finishing up on an extra large catering order, and that there may be a wait up to 45 minutes. We told her we were fine with that as it would give us a bit of time to soak up the place and look over the menu. She brought us some water and offered to order some appetizers if we wanted. We said that sounded good; when we arrived I noticed someone behind the counter making what I thought were dumplings. I had to go see in person and when I asked, I learned they were beef pies. We ordered beef pies (order includes three) along with steamed juicy pork dumplings. These pies are amazing! They are pan fried and served on a long plate. They were piping hot and when they were delivered, we were warned to be careful. These medium size pies were cooked to perfection with a crispy outer crust and the most juiciest meat filling with such a savory taste. Loved them!We also ordered the following dishes ultimately: Orange chicken, served with white rice: Made with fresh oranges and a light tempura-like batter, this was the best orange chicken we have eaten. The sauce is light and full of orange, sweet flavor and made with the dark meat to create a juicy, succulent bite! Small pieces of orange slices throughout the dish. We noticed several tables had ordered this so it's a popular dish here.Hot and Sour Soup: We ordered a small, which was more than enough for four people unless this was going to be your meal! I asked for some of the crispy wonton noodles and there were some sprinkled on top. Let's start with the broth of this soup...so many places serve a thick, gelatinous soupy base and Chou's is NO WHERE like other soups we've had. The broth is light but just thick enough to hold the tons of mushrooms and veggies they make it with. There is that perfect balance of spicy to offset the sour of the soup...again, one of the best we've had. Only one off comment: I'm one that likes some crunchy texture to my hot and sour soup so rather than having just a sprinkle of crunchy noodles, I would have preferred to have a small bowl of them to add while I was eating my soup to keep that crunchy texture as part of the experience. Not enough of a complaint to make me not order this again...it's going to be one of the first things I want when visiting!Stir fried Chinese mushroom over greens: Shiitake mushrooms, cut in half and mixed with Bok choy, all stir fried in a light garlic sauce. The wife's favorite because she lives for Bok choy! It was so good, although I would have cared to have the Bok Choy just a tad more crisp. Again, would never turn this dish down! Veggie fried rice: This came out last and we actually only had a few big bites and packed it up for take home eating later. Not sure what they do with the rice but it is fried with just some being crispy and then lots of tender, small cut veggies spread throughout. A bit of whole broccoli on the top of this heaping pile of some of the best fried rice! Had a smooth, buttery taste...so good!As we were finishing up, we realized we didn't get the pork dumplings and they weren't on the bill either. We were perfectly ok with this...small oversight but in hindsight, we were stuffed without them! Next time they will be ordered! We saw many tables ordering them and they looked wonderful. The restaurant itself is small with tons of different award plaques on the walls as well as photos of many of their dishes. Fabulous experience and we will be getting our Chinese fix from here going forward. Can't believe it took so long for us to discover this gem in Chandler!
It's always a good sign when you go to a Chinese restaurant and there are other Chinese people eating there too. This restaurant is a small quaint style Chinese restaurant. The server was friendly, helpful and attentive. We ordered the beef pie, Mongolian beef and chicken with vegetables. The beef pies tasted fresh and had a nice flavor. Definitely recommend you give it a shot. The Mongolian beef was very good. Not to sweet and the beef was tender and had a nice taste. The chicken with vegetables also tasted really good too. It had a nice garlic sauce taste.I would highly recommend this place!!!
