This fine dining experience is truly exqusitive! Not sure when would be the next occasion to visit, we have chosen the tasting menu with the slightest doubt. All the dishes are delicately presented, cooked to the perfection. It is worth the time to enjoy long meal and the environment. Go with a hungry stomach or you’ll regret. Staff are attentive and friendly, in particular the sommeliers are all professional. Though... View all feedback.
What caramorphew doesn't like about Albert 1er:
Food was good but the service felt old school and sexist. The female often makes the same salary or more in many relationships today so it felt very outdated for the servers to consistently address my husband over me first. It’s 2022, let’s get with the times. View all feedback.
We are pleased that our busy schedule during a short stay in Chamonix allowed us to squeeze in a lunch at this centennial establishment, something we have wanted to do for months. An oasis of peace not far from centre town. The dishes are innovative (e.g. the first course of the foie gras served two ways, and many of the starters) and excellent. You may have had better pigeons or sweetbreads served at other multi-Michelin-star restaurants, but the impeccable service here made the whole experience truly delightful. Our two-year old baby had his most refined pasta dish ever, and participated fully in the tasting of the dessert chariots! It should have at least 2 stars, and is pretty good value for the quality offered.
We have been to Albert 1er at least 20 times in the last 10 years. It never disappoints. The food is obviously outstanding. Very refined. Some could say "relatively classic french gastronomy". My impression is that the level of creativity has been increasing over the years. It is THE place to go in Chamonix for a great lunch or dinner. Prices at lunch are rather reasonable. The sommelier always has great recommendations. Service is perfect.
My husband and I had reservations to visit this restaurant while in Chamonix and were excited to try out the Michelin starred restaurant. We walked from our hotel and followed the signs toward the restaurant, at which point we saw an employee, who took us inside to the maitre d' and told them our names. I was a bit surprised at the decor, because it was quite rustic, but we were led to our table. A moment later, another employee came to our table and asked if we were supposed to be at the Michelin restaurant, we replied yes, and they apologized and led us out to the other restaurant! A completely different place with cool, modern decor and a very upscale feel. What a difference! The meal was fabulous, the wine was amazing, and it was everything we hoped it would be. In particular, the cheese cart and the desert cart were so over the top as far as variety and quality, I doubt we will ever experience one more outstanding. My only suggestion would be better signage designating the two different restaurants. Also, how did the maitre d' seat us if we told him we had reservations (and gave him our name) at the Michelin starred restaurant -- obviously our name wasn't on his reservation book. Someone figured it out before it was too late though, for which I'm grateful!
