I'm confused as to the poor reviews, we loved our dinner at Marius! We were seated right away, and our waitress was lovely and attentive. My burger was absolutely delicious, one of the best I've had, and well worth the price. My daughter is 2.5 and a picky eater and she devoured the kids pizza, I tried a slice myself and it was fantastic (My partner thought so as well). His fish and chips were good, but he agreed aft... What Paul Clancy doesn't like about Marius La Taverne:
AVOID this restaurant. The restaurant was empty, and our group of 13 asked to combine a couple tables. The waitress said we could not do that. So we sat down in the arranged tables. The waitress ignored us, attending to patrons seated after us. After sitting 20+ minutes and being ignored by this waitress, we left. Hope the owner didn't miss our business. View all feedback.
This is by far my favorite place to get an authentic poutine in Quebec. If you are ever in Chambly stopping here is mandatory. It started as a fry truck before I was even born serving my parents off the chip wagon when they were kids visiting the basin. The ownership has changed hands many times and I 've seen it go from a window you ordered from to a restaurant that you ordered at a counter and sat in a dining area right up to the chez version which had tablecloths and fancy waitresses serving you with high end cutlery. I 'm very grateful to the latest owners for becoming a tavern style environment that invites people to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the Richelieu river, the fort and the marina.... however it 's very sad they don 't offer a regular poutine dish here anymore. Only the photographed duck poutine which was ok...but at $27 each seems kinda silly and over dresses the most popular provincial dish of just three toppings...fries cheese curds and gravy. I hope the new owners read this review and comsider adding a standard large poutine back on the menu. Charge whatever you want and people will pay it to enjoy the view, but truthfully I didn 't find the duck or pickled toppings really offered the same connection to the roots of this place and an homage to the simple dish that has kept them popular for more than half a century. I appreciate the attempt to add class, but I believe you stand a better chance of you offer both your take on it and the traditional metal container filled as it was in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s...still your offering is far better than the previous management and I 'm grateful for the changes made to make it feel more like home. You make the best poutine in the country...stick to what you do best and perhaps make it extra large like platter for two that costs $30...but offer what has always been offered please if not just for those of us that want to remember the history Thank you to the owners for keeping this spot alive, my grandfather Pierre Gauthier (local Chambly legend) loved this place his whole life. We came every time I visited. He passed recently, when I visited this year to see his new street in chambly named for his efforts in the war and after it I was so happy to be able to visit his favorite place still. Long live Marius! Even with my opinion on the glaring item missing from the menu you deserve 6 stars and always will.
Service was amazing as well as the food and drinks . However, it is a little pricey but would definitely go back.
Food was good not the best but its pub food . Location and view made up for it and the sangria was pretty tasty. Bathroom needs some love lol
Note to my future self, never come back here. There are better options, and always starve.
The food was good and very fast I recommend the salmon burger , was yummy!
