What Paula Martí doesn't like about Old Brickworks Brasserie at Potters Hunter Valley:
Meeting friends for lunch, we were excited to savor a delicious pub meal as the menu was quite appealing. I decided to go for the battered fish, chips, and salad. While the chips were good and the batter was crispy, unfortunately, the fish was very dry. A member of our group also ordered the same dish and encountered the same issue with their fish. Last minute choice as we explored the Hunter valley. Had to get a reservation as Saturday was very busy. Quick service and good food. Floor hygiene could have been better.
Saturday lunchtime in winter and the ample carpark is full with all the members of a popular car club lined up on the grass outside. There is a child enclosed play area, a large area on the grass for the bigger kids and grown ups and plenty of table space inside and outside for the serious eaters. One long table made from a very large gum tree dominates the seating in one dining area.Food is varied and presented well and long queues form at lunch time. It all goes well and in one hour we have ordered and been served. The prices are what you would expect in a boutique bistro style pub. There are many beers on offer and we settle on a German Wheat beer, and after asking I discover it is only German Style made locally. I consider it priced too high for the average beer it really is.This is very popular drop in food and drink place on the weekends. The amenities add value and the interior decoration could be improved, as there is plenty of raw material around.
Stopped off for dinner on the way to our hotel. We has the seafood special and pork belly special. Most of the seafood was well cooked as was the pork belly. The fish was a little overcooked. Nice oysters and prawns. The food went down well with a selection of beers from the brewery. We were lucky we arrived early as it became very bust at around 7pm and people were finding it difficult to get a table.
Potters is the oldest craft brewery in the valley, and one of the best. There is a brew for every taste, and the food is very ok. You wil like the looks.
We came here on a Saturday evening and I have to admit that both the food and the service were excellent. The atmosphere was also very fun. Nice pub food.
