A delightful visit! So wonderful to hear the staff speaking Welsh and offering welsh lessons whilst waiting for fish and chips, which were excellent. The staff are just lovely! Thank you for being so kind and welcoming! View all feedback.
What debevans27 doesn't like about Captains Rendezvous:
Very disappointing compared to last years visit. Asked for 2 fish and large chips. Put together in paper bag. Not asked if want separate. Batter overcooked. Chips not great. Cost £16. Thought it funny no queue esp being half term. Will b my last visit. View all feedback.
My two teenagers and I were looking for a quick meal and decided to sit inside due to the rainy weather. Despite it being Easter holidays, the restaurant was surprisingly quiet. However, we quickly realized why – our order of three Fish and Chips, two pots of gravy, and three cans of soda came to a total of £50! I was in disbelief and had to check the receipt multiple times. This simple lunch ended up costing as much as a two-course meal at a fancy pub the night before. Unfortunately, the food was not exceptional, the portion sizes were not generous (despite being charged for large portions without being asked), and it set a disappointing tone for the rest of our day. I understand that running a hospitality business can be expensive and prices of ingredients are rising, but this felt more like taking advantage of customers than fair pricing. It was a disappointing experience.
We have been frequenting this fish shop for over 20 years and have always had a great experience, until Easter Tuesday. We stopped in for tea on our way home and decided to dine in. The service was quick and the cup of tea was delicious, but unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The chips were overcooked and inedible, the fish was tough and seemed like it had been sitting out for a while, and the pie crust was tough. We found out that the restaurant had changed ownership, which may explain the decline in quality. We were surprised to see such subpar food being served compared to the previous owners. They take your money when you place your order, which now makes sense because the food was so bad that I would have refused to pay otherwise. We also overheard other customers complaining about their meals. We highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs.
Lovely food, we took away and ate while sitting outside overlooking the beach. Lovely fish and chips, great value for money.
Great staff and quick service even on the Easter weekend. Had a nice chat with the proprietors whilst waiting. Sat down on the quay, watching the holidaymakers enjoying the sunshine (I'm local) and the chips were spot on, nice and crispy, a good portion, and a nice price. Will definitely revisit in the future.
