Doesn't look like much from the outside, but this was our favorite meal of our trip! Went here early on a weeknight during the summer. Since we have kids, we sat outside and that play area saved us! It's a play area for adults, but my kids were able to wander and play while we waited for our food. Service was fast and friendly and able to accommodate kids. I ordered the fish sandwich and they do not mess around,It wa... View all feedback.
What Ben Cochrane doesn't like about Ossipee Mountain Grille:
Love the area, so wanted to check it out, when we walked in, nobody greeted us or said anything, so we sat at a table, most surfaces were sticky and unclean, the food was good but everything else was lacking. View all feedback.
We stayed in ossipee on July 16 and 17 2022. Knew no place to eat. Looked up on line for local restaurants. OMG was on the list and near where we were staying. So we said hey we’re tired let’s just go there to eat. We were greeted by a friendly bartender who let us know we could sit where we wanted to. So we picked our seats and were greeted by a very friendly and helpful waitress named us Angelica. I highly recommend her if you go. We ordered our food and we’re very pleased with the quality and quantity of food. The mussels were tasty and seemed to have a garlic flavor. She also ordered the steak tip dinner and that was amazing. Tender and cooked to perfection. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and was in awe of the size and flavor. I spoke with the owner and she just mad two weekend tourists feel like family. We went back for lunch on Sunday and we’re just as pleased with our meal also. Well worth stopping in for. They also allow dogs on leash in restaurant. Just a bonus for people with dogs. Can’t wait to go back and see the owner and her staff. Hope Angelica will be there that night.
Great food and amazing staff. Will certainly come back. I feel bad for all of the nasty reviews they have gotten as they are just not true.
The restaurant has a nice, clean atmosphere and the service was good. However, we had a bit of an issue with our order. We requested three medium burgers with fries, along with a mac and cheese, but the burgers were served rare instead. On the bright side, the mac and cheese was delicious. I shrugged it off, assuming the cook might have had an off night, and we decided to ask for the bill. To our surprise, the burgers and fries were priced at $24 each! That's quite steep for three BBQ bacon cheeseburgers, and the mac and cheese, while generous, was $15. We ended up paying a total of $132, including a tip for our server, but we’ve decided we’ll only return for drinks next time, thanks to the bartender's great service. Just a heads-up: I wouldn’t recommend getting a burger here; you might want to go to Five Guys instead, as they are cheaper.
Initially, everything seemed fine. We ordered drinks and took the kids to some outdoor games while waiting for our food. When our meals arrived, I started eating while my husband cut up my youngest daughter's spaghetti—she's only one, so he was helping her eat. However, when my husband finally tried his spaghetti, he found it was overly watery and lacked sauce, making it inedible. Despite the restaurant not being busy, our waitress didn’t check on us or refill our drinks. When she finally came over to ask if we needed the check, my husband mentioned the issue with the spaghetti. Since the rest of us had already finished eating, he decided not to have it replaced and instead requested that it be removed from the bill. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t very good; neither of my children could eat theirs, and I struggled to finish mine. The server said she would talk to the manager, and eventually, a young girl (likely a teenager) came out. She informed us that they couldn’t comp us for any food and handed my husband the phone with the owner on the line. While calmly trying to explain the situation, the owner abruptly interrupted him, yelled accusations that my husband was trying to score a free meal, and threatened to have him removed from the establishment and arrested. After making multiple threats and claiming friends in the police force, he hung up. When I asked the manager if I could take a picture of the uneaten food for proof, she said they had thrown it away because my husband had said he didn’t want it. She then took the phone and walked away. After about 10 minutes without any updates, I went to the bar for clarification, and the manager informed me that the police were on their way. During this troubling time, my 3-year-old was crying and frightened, so I insisted we needed to leave as the kids were very upset. When the police arrived, we finally received our check and paid for the meal, which totaled $100 for two adults and two kids—a price we were willing to pay. Our main concern was the terrible service from the owner and staff. Interestingly, the table next to us approached and told us they had to return their food for the same reasons we encountered. The police left shortly after we did, and my daughter was still in tears, confused and scared. The entire experience was distressing for us and others in the restaurant who sympathized with our situation. Now, my kids are traumatized and afraid of police officers, which deeply troubles me. This was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. Edit to add: The responses the restaurant gives to negative reviews reveal a lot—specifically, they remove all unfavorable feedback from their accounts. I would never willingly expose my young children to such a scene; this incident was purely the result of poor behavior from the business owner. While I know some customers have had positive experiences, ours was not one of them. As someone in the service industry, I understand the challenges businesses face with certain customers, but we were not those types in this situation. I'm extremely disappointed in how the owners handled a straightforward opportunity to prioritize customer satisfaction. If we return next year, I wouldn’t be surprised if this restaurant is still in business; they seem indifferent to customer experience and unable to cope with criticism, resorting to lash out instead—something the negative reviews clearly illustrate. If you're considering dining here, I highly recommend looking for other options, especially given the quality of the food.
To make matters worse, we were never given silverware or napkins. I spent five minutes trying to get the attention of our waitress to request napkins, and then waited another ten minutes for them to arrive. Our appetizers were served only after we had already started our entrees—by the time they came, we were halfway through our meals, and the appetizers were cold. The waitress appeared either distracted or indifferent, and she refused to correct the bill, despite the apparent inconsistencies in the burger pricing. Eventually, I gave up trying to explain the issues, paid the bill, and left. Overall, it was a really unpleasant experience that left me disappointed.
