During our road trip for Memorial Day, we unexpectedly found ourselves in Cedar Vale around lunchtime. To our surprise, we discovered a restaurant open and checked out some reviews, which led us to Hilltop Cafe, praised by many. From the moment we entered, we felt welcomed and at home. Our friendly server suggested the daily special: a cheeseburger and access to the salad bar. We couldn't resist adding tater tots—after all, how many places serve those anymore? While the salad bar was small, everything was fresh and delicious, especially the homemade pea salad that truly stood out. Then came the tater tots—pure magic! They were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, delivering tater tot perfection. Finally, we enjoyed the cheeseburger. It was simple yet tasty, reminiscent of a classic homemade burger from Mom's kitchen. And the best part? The entire special cost only $8.95! What an incredible deal for such a delightful and unexpected discovery during our scenic drive through Kansas. Don't overlook Hilltop Cafe! Whether you’re just passing through Cedar Vale or are willing to make a trip specifically for this treasure, it’s absolutely worth it. We'll definitely be returning!
I stopped by for lunch and had a great experience. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and my BLT was delicious, especially with the curly fries on the side!
