**Discovering the Halfway Bar Grill: A Mixed Bag of Experiences**
The recently renovated Halfway Bar Grill, formerly Hirsch's Lighthouse Pub, elicited polarized reactions from patrons. While some diners rave about outstanding service, delicious food, and a warm atmosphere, others lamented long waits and disappointing dishes, citing inadequate service and unappetizing meals. Despite the inconsistency, the inviting ambiance and friendly staff have garnered appreciation. Many customers cherish their experience, particularly enjoying the famous burgers and unique “frips.” For those traversing the region, this restaurant appears to be a hidden gem worth exploring, albeit with a cautionary note regarding service efficiency on busy days.

No star rating here. The customer service was the worst I've ever experienced! We waited ages for service, and after about thirty minutes waiting for a simple pizza, we ran out of drinks and finished all our water. Finally, we decided to take matters into our own hands and went up to the bar to get our own drinks. We stood next to two women while the waiter was busy exchanging emails and discussing personal matters for over two minutes, and no one acknowledged us. Eventually, I just sat back down. When the waitress finally returned to our table, I ordered water so we wouldn't have to spend any more money at this place. To top it off, the pizza tasted terrible. I even called the owner to share our experience, and he asked us to come back in so they could make it right. Thanks, but no thanks.
Hirsch's Lighthouse Pub now the Halfway Bar Grill has apparently changed ownership and has gone from a great place to have lunch and dinner to the pits! We stopped there today for their famous Pub Burger
I decided to stop here while passing through the UP, and I’m so glad I did! The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
My husband and I discovered this restaurant during our motorcycle trip around Lake Michigan, and we're so glad we did! It's a bit off the beaten path—nothing fancy—but it has a lovely atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff. The burgers were fantastic, and the frips (fries) were delicious as well. I even picked up a t-shirt for $10 to remember our experience. I wouldn't hesitate to go back! We'll definitely be returning next year on our journey around the lake.
