The fish was great, the service was great, and the price was pretty good! I have never seen so many crooked pictures!
The fried fish was great, not a heavy breading. It's a cornmeal breading and wasn't greasy at all. It was all you can eat and it came out hot. We didn't care for the coleslaw but that's not the restaurant's fault, we just don't like celery seed. I had fries and didn't care for them but that's just my preference as they aren't crispy or seasoned. My mom got the party potatoes and she didn't love them but that again was just our preference on flavors. The next Friday I'm in town I'd definitely go back for the fish.
The food is below mediocre. They are overstaffed and all the wait staff are sitting looking at their phones. There is little to nothing on the menu. No a place I'd recommend. It has the potential to be swanky with a retro jazz bar feel possible with a few changes but as is.... Meh.The salad was small and basically shredded cheese with a few bits of lettuce. The fries were somehow all soggy. The baked beans didn't mention they had pork in them. Everything was almost bland in taste. And again ... Better staff would help. Like why are the wait staff not bringing the food but the kitchen staff is....?
After driving past for years we finally decided to pay a visit to The Flamingo. This restaurant is only open to the public for supper on Friday evenings. We went specifically for the fish fry dinners. If you are looking for the taste of a midwest fish fry, this is it.Being an event center, first and foremost, the tables are large and round. You can sit a large party of at least eight at one table, but groups of two and four are still given their own. There is some bar seating further back. This restaurant sees the early bird crowd, so keep that in mind when deciding how early or late you want to eat.My Alaskan walleye dinner was cooked with the light crispy breading I was looking for. These dinners are served with sides, mine gave coleslaw and a choice of potato. I really liked that the party potatoes were tangy with a vinegar taste. My husband got the full rack of ribs, which also tasted great. The wait staff was very friendly and they all worked together to clean up. I was so impressed when I saw them clear a large full table in less than a minute.Overall I will keep coming back. The menu has enough variety to try more, but is small enough to make the decision easy. If you want a low key dinner on a Friday night, give The Flamingo a go.
It was fish fry Friday!! I got it to go. Eat it so fast forgot to take a picture next time!!

I have tried several caterers in Cedar Rapids, and Winifred stands out as the best. The food is absolutely delicious, always delivered promptly and fresh, with an appealing presentation. They even come the next day to pick up used napkins, which is a dream come true for any party host.
The place where we held our wedding has an exclusive contract with Winifreds for cash benefits. It was a terrible experience. They calculated $45/hour per bar. Our wedding was small, so I only asked one, but they sent two more, which both were standing there all night because of the number of guests. The bartenders were friendly. They also accused a bliss and had a drinker filled and emptied several times by the bartenders. In the last hour of our reception came a man who asked for a check. He didn't even have a bill for services and just pinched some numbers down. When he asked if we could pay on Monday morning when he had the right numbers, he said no. I had to send a friend to get my checkbook at the hotel where we lived. Ruined the last hour of our night! You should need a deposit and when we pay for the balance, so they had everything right that our catering companies did. I wouldn't recommend Winifred for anything!
Absolutely disgusting by the service that was provided and raw chicken that was served at my sister wedding by this place. They then continued on to tell us that the guests where lying about the food. The chicken was RAW and the gravy was served after all the guests had already ate. The groom did not even receive his meal. The staff stood around on phones YES I have pictures of this and the raw chicken. Refusing to speak with the person that paid for your services is unprofessional.
Horrible paid 1500$ 300$ alone for bartender she was paid for 3 hours only was at her post for 45 minutes the entire 3 hours the chicken was raw gravey wasn't served until all guests were done eating staff was rude made racial comments when asked for reimbursement for the mistakes made they offered 50$ canceled our meeting then when I finally did meet told me just get a lawyer we are lying
The all-you-can-eat fish was absolutely delicious. You accommodated our large group wonderfully.

I've been here twice for the all-you-can-eat walleye fish fry during Lent, and the fish was excellent both times. It comes with coleslaw, which is a nice blend of creamy and tangy vinegar, along with a potato dish. My only suggestion would be to offer a vegetable option instead of just potatoes.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time working here! The food is excellent, and the staff are fantastic. The ambiance is romantic and very classy!
I take my mom to this restaurant almost every Friday. If you're in search of an outstanding steak, this is the place to be! They serve perfectly cut filets that can be sliced with just a fork. Mine was cooked to perfection, medium rare—tender and simply delicious. Additionally, they offer some of the best chicken I've ever had. The chicken sandwich is bigger than most tenderloins! I also think they serve the best burger in eastern Iowa. Whether it's Lent or just any Friday when you're craving a fantastic meal, this is definitely the spot to visit.
This restaurant offers a diverse range of food options suitable for various groups of people. The staff is highly professional.

I've visited this restaurant twice for their all-you-can-eat walleye fish fry during Lent, and I must say the fish is outstanding. It comes with coleslaw, which is a nice balance of creamy and vinegar flavors, as well as a potato dish. My only suggestion would be to offer a vegetable option instead of the potatoes.
The waitress was the best I've had in a long time. Unfortunately, the fish seemed like it was just taken out of the freezer and cooked. The staff was really nice, but the fish didn't impress me at all.

We hosted our class reunion at this location, and the service was fantastic! The food was excellent!
My wife and I decided to try this place on a whim, and it was fantastic! The all-you-can-eat fish was excellent, and the BBQ brisket was some of the best I've ever tasted!
I absolutely love the fried walleye!
