This is not the sort of place you'd expect to find in Cavaillon. Off the beaten track and in a town not noted for its fine dining, it is a jewel. A family-run restaurant which has been going for five years, Carte sur Table serves really good, really fresh home-made food and nothing else. It is the only place I have ever been to where I go in and ask for the set menu without even asking what it is (and I'm really picky about my food). Even their house wine is wonderful (not something I think I've ever said or thought before). It is extremely good value, and always a great experience. When it's warm, the terrace is lovely, especially as there is no passing traffic. I would just say that it is best to reserve if you can. Don't miss the chance to go here if you're in the area!
This is a real good restaurant. Starter and main course were very good. But why is it so difficult to use the best chocolate for deserts ? Not only here, but on most places in this area it seems to be very hard to use the best chocolate for deserts. I might maybe a bit selective as a chocolate addict, but we only had real good chocolate at 1 place the last 2 weeks ( La veranda in Menerbes ) . Also the chocolate that came with the coffee : the coffee was perfect, but add a small biscuit or so if you can't find good chocolate. But in general this was a wonderfull meal of course.
After reading earlier reviews, we booked here for dinner on a Saturday evening, and it didn't disappoint. The menu offers 3 or 4 choices per course, and we were advised to allow time for preparation. That said, we never found ourselves feeling anything was too slow, and the service was very friendly and helpful. The food we chose was very traditional with some twists, based on very good ingredients, and well cooked. This is a restaurant that cares!I also noticed that, despite the restaurant not being full, people who arrived WITHOUT a booking latter around 8pm were not accommodated, reflecting the concern of the staff to do the best for those customers who had made a reservation, and for whom the restaurant had planned. This wasn't done in any haughty way, just matter of fact. The wine list was also limited in length, but not in quality, focusing on good local regional wines. With glasses of champagne as aperitifs, and two half bottles of wine, our bill was less than €175 for three people/three course. For the quality of the food and service, I thought this was excellent value. Recommended. I will return.
The first day of our vacation in Provence we visited Cavaillon, not knowing what to expect. We found this restaurant that seemed empty at first but we found out it was reserved for lunch almost entirely. Luckily, we found a table inside. We had the day menu, that day it was a veal roasted overnight with a millefeuille of potatoes, they melted in our mouths :) we asked for a wine recommendation that was also very good. Madame was a very nice host. Highly recommended.
