We went in 15 min before closing last night, and the lady at the front said that there were no more churros, and they were mopping the floor, blocking 3/4 of th... read more We went in 15 min before closing last night, and the lady at the front said that there were no more churros, and they were mopping the floor, blocking 3/4 of the space, so we couldn 't even get a good look at the menu. We were bummed as we had driven across town to get some churros. So, NORMALLY, I have to admit, I feel like, if you 're known for your churros, you really should have some churros until the end of your open hours, and I don 't think you should mop almost the entire floor before you close, so that your customers can 't see the menu. To me, this is what closing time after you close is for. To clean, count, and lock up. HOWEVER! In the time of COVID, money is tight, business can be slow, employees are hard to find, and really, little places are just trying to stay alive. I did understand that she would 've had to make an entire batch of 30+ churros just to give us 2-4. We lightheartedly wanked a little bit about the no churros, and joked around with the people before us who go the last churros, but then the super nice woman behind the counter, found some odds and ends pieces of churros, gave it to us and told us, every customer counts and apologized. That 's called CUSTOMER SERVICE. And just being nice people. SO, on that note, here is my final impression: Although we got a little sour on our first impression, the woman behind the counter COMPLETELY turned it around for us, was soooo nice, the churros are CRUNCHY and DELICIOUS (better than Costco!! and this place deserves our money. Plus, they have sweetened condensed milk on the menu, which for all you Americans is RIDICULOUSLY good, and small, mom and pop shops like this are places that we MUST SUPPORT AND TRY TO KEEP IN BUSINESS. If the Palm Springs area loses a place like this it would be their loss. So, next time you 're thinking of going to get ice cream from Trader Joe 's, or Costco, or some random, cold, fluorescent lit supermarket, think instead, hey, let 's go support that little churro shop instead and have something special , because we all need to find a little bit of happiness in the oppressive cloud that is COVID. And what makes us happier than a good, hot, crispy, cinnamon-sugary churro? Not a darn thing.
