I Moschettieri - Catania

I have read all the negative reviews by folk and wonder what they expect from a restaurant and how able are they to engage with the proprietors. One reviewer says they just had an hour to kill and that the train would be leaving soon. So go and get a sandwich on the hoof and a bottle of fizz if you don’t have the time. We were given this recommendation by the Gal at reception of our hotel as her family eat there regularly. Absolutely superb. Mixed starters consisted of 11 plates. Then followed by just a Second course of steaming pasta and grilled vegetables. We were totally stuffed. The cold dishes were cold and the hot dishes were hot. Prices were fantastic for food and beer and wine. The owners made us very welcome and we had a good laugh with the waiters. We always enter a restaurant with a smile on our faces and engage positively, equally with the waiters and the owners. Always makes for a ‘positive dining experiences’. I would make this place my regular if I lived in Catania We will go again without question.

We have read the positive reviews on TripAdvisor and decided to have lunch here. The service was really nice but the food was terrible. We couldn't eat at all. Just tasted the food and ordered the bill. The chef was nice and offered to cook us something else, but all of the 3 dishes we ordered were bad so we refused his offer. Sorry but 50eur completely wasted:

We discovered this restaurant on the last day of our Catania stay. It's located in a scruffy part of town very close to the station and the restaurant itself is not at all glitzy. It was packed with locals and had a great atmosphere. The food was some of the best that we've had in Sicily and prices were very reasonable.

I went here with my girlfriend to get a good fish lunch, after reading tripadvisor reviews. I must say that everything was great from the helpfulness and kindness of the staff in the room to the quality and quantity of the courses. the only thing I didn't appreciate, in my opinion, but for personal gains, was the dress with too much oil the sea appetizers. then everything perfect. fixed tip menu 35 euro starter, first, drinker, sorbetto, malvasia with Sicilian biscuits. We'll definitely come back.

We stayed at lunch last Saturday in this characteristic Sicilian restaurant. friendly owners although sometimes a little distracted in the service, very good appetizers,various and delicious (except the sea salad that was definitely not fresh) while the first a little less...the linguine to the rock of my husband unfortunately did not have a good goto and the fish contained in them, was frozen except the mussels and clams obviously! my bags with eggplants and swordfish good but after a while you feel too strong the flavor of the basil contained in the accompanying cream...maybe also because of the excessive amount! Sweet buckets and malvasia offered at the end of the meal and honest account. however recommend for a pleasant stay
