I tried one of the tasting menus and I really enjoyed it. the staff was friendly and very attentive. the quality of eating and service were really good. it is an expensive restaurant, but if you want to experience a high quality service and a combination of aromen that are not found in a typical restaurant, I would recommend to come here at least once. We chose this hotel and its restaurant thinking that it would be a romantic escape. While the hotel met our expectations the restaurant did not. Unfortunately they had booked a large party and this destroyed the atmosphere in the restaurant. Because of that party the service was abysmal and very disjointed. The food itself was okay but not spectacular. The service provided the next morning at the included breakfast b... View all feedback.
The service was very good and the location is beautiful, I 'm sure in the summer months with the doors open or on the patio it would be spectacular. Our mains were very good ..the lamb and the fish both had delicious sauces and looked wonderful. The ravioli was a bug disappointment, very tough dough, in fact we could not eat the outer shell of pasta which was very thick, not Michelin standard at all. Also we didn 't notice the tiny print on how much bread on the table was..we were asked in passing if we wanted it. We said 'sure ' not realizing it was €12 for bread! Side salad was also a miss..just lettuce, tomato and oil...not a vinegrette at all.
The restaurant was beautiful and the service and food excellent. We dined a la carte. My husband particularly enjoyed the rump steak with oxtail rice stew.
I have to say one of the best experiences of a restaurant I have had in a long time. The service by the head waiter was outstanding. Every course was described and explained and accompanied by an individual choice of wine to accompany the course. The food was exquisite. Tasty, ingenious and unique. Our compliments to the outstanding chef. Thankyou so much for the experience. We throughly enjoyed it.
The room is lovely (same as the breakfast room) with a beautiful view of the Douro River. The room was very good...our only complaint is that when asking our server his opinion on a glass of wine, which we agreed to, later to find it was E30 a glass, way more than anything on the menu. Our bad for not asking first, but he really should have informed us of the exhorbitant price. Otherwise, the service was great. Buyer beware, when ordering 'off menu '!
Wonderful experience in every way,. The food was delicious, service excellent and atmosphere lovely
