The place is located in the burg castell alfero, la foresteria dell castello, which is the local community first establishment, hotel second, museum on the side: eating is very good, even they did not expect that from caffeine. from antipasti, above primo, to secondo... average price of 8 euro. whatever they choose, it won't make a mistake. enterer not so good, but service is perfect. very recommended cheese plate instead of cake. the only complaint would be 3 eur lavori, as they say in the manu that they do not have a service fee. total is 1 antipasto, 2 primi, cheese plate, bottle good red wine vine, water for 51 euro ok price.
I had lunch here, ravioli and my son had tagliatelle. service is very good, eating was perfect. we enjoyed everything. quiet beautiful place.
What a wonderful surprise to reach the top of Castel'Alfero and the beautiful Piazza Castello. Sitting outdoors in the evening with lights on the church is beautiful and romantic to the extreme. Being just outside Asti we started dinner with a glass of Asti Spumante....There are a number of choices by the glass, at various price levels. The wine list included a number of half bottles a really nice option as we had a 10 km drive back to our place after the meal. Even better the list included a bottle of Castello di Razzano from the vineyard where we were staying. My wife enjoyed a nice Insalata Fantasia with fresh mozzarella, eggs, tomatoes, and olives. We then focused on the pasta, having agnolotti, a peimonte pasta stuffed with a nut sauce, a tagliolini with porcini mushrooms and gnocchi with meat ragu. All were very good nice size portions and flavourful. Prices were reasonable in the 7 to 9 euro range. Service was friendly and excellent and the food/pastas very good but what made this meal special was sitting out in the evening on the piazza with the beautiful church all lit up very romantic.
This place has so much going for it, location, atmosphere, food, but on top of this the patron is the most charming, gracious host you could hope for. It seems to me that everywhere you eat in Castello Alfero is run by wonderfully happy, ready...to please hosts and staff. The location here is amazing and is obviously a popular place with the locals as it was always full, there are several different rooms that can be hired for special occasions all of which have stunning architecture. You can also just pop in for a coffee, which is excellent and costs just over a euro.
