We went to La Sosta, because it is outside and not that posh as the Colombaio itself. The food was excellent, the wine list very impressive, but compared to other places (for instance the Enoteca in Casole d'Elsa itself or the Osteria del Borgo in Mensano), you might be a tad disappointed. We enjoyed La Sosta nonetheless! View all feedback.
Some reviews of La Sosta have been lumped in with Columbaio, leaving the simpler menu unfairly orphaned as TA 's 'worst in the area '. Far from it: La Sosta is the taste of a high performance operation ticking over at low revs, casually presenting modest dishes with occasional flashes of Michelin star brilliance. If you 're seeking bumper platefuls of cheap grub, seek on. If you 're looking for a well crafted meal from a superb kitchen at a comparable price to the tourist traps of Florence, book confidently. You 'll be in good hands. Our 3+toddler family enjoyed a faultless light 2/3 course lunch here for a few cents over EUR65. Highlights included majestically fragrant chicken with proscuitto and caramelised tomatoes, the sweet and sour onions accompanying the salami misto, superb blood orange juice and a deftly tart little apple cake. Their own olive oil is good rather than exceptional. The fact that they make (but don 't.serve! their own grown wine is telling on several levels. We tried (and bought some. It 's nowhere near good enough to rank on their excellent and not overpriced list. Overall, though: four stars. Plus one to redress balance to the current rating.

Offers an easier but very good menu as a substitution to the Il Colombaio restaurant. Both menues are served in the same restaurants.
We just happened upon this lovely restaurant as we drove through Casole d'Elsa. There are 2 restaurants. Gourmet and casual. We chose the casual and were very happy. We sat outside, right next to the gourmet area. Very fresh caprese salad, fresh bread, and pasta. The tagliatelle with ragu was my favorite. They have many wines to choose from, as well. The staff is very friendly and attentive without breathing over your shoulder. The bathrooms are modern and clean. Overall a lovely surprise and not a bad way to peacefully enjoy a relaxing meal.
