Uplands - Cartmel

Good food in beautiful surroundings. It was a cake night and Captain Nemo cake was excellent. I love fish, but not things like yarns that are often in fish cakes. That was only fish, potatoes and peas, and it was the best of all time. So much fish and skillfully cooked.

We had a very pleasant meal in Uplands. The staff was very attentive and the quality of food and service was very good and above expectations.

As our visit coincided with news years day, we were expecting the menu to include a roast dinner. It was explained that the owners were going on holiday and so this was why the choice was limited We both had fish and enjoyed it It won’t put us off going again but I was disappointed Whilst we were eating we heard the waitress tell others that there was now only one portion of potatoes and then all they had were skinny fries, not really what you want on New Years Day Felt more effort could have been made Service and ambiance great

On line booking worked well for this Sunday lunch. We had starters and mains that were well prepared and very pleasant. My starter, chipolata sausage, was particularly good. Our mains, roast beef and roast lamb respectively, were well prepared and very satisfying. Front of house staff were extremely welcoming and sustained a relaxed atmosphere by being unobtrusively attentive throughout. Thank you very much.

Fabulous meal and stay at uplands. The service was very good indeed and the food was exceptional with a good variety of dishes to suit all tastes. I would recommend the home-baked pies! Very pleasant atmosphere and relaxed. Will return.
