Thank heavens! After a wee detour, the Gladdie is back to being a great pub and place to eat. Good food, good service and a friendly atmosphere. Not sure how it is at the weekend;s when the Wgt urbanites go rural but during the week, it's a treat to be enjoyed. Keep it up ! View all feedback.
Great country pubThis is a lovely pub with a outdoor deck with views of the river. It serves good gastro pub style meals and there is something on the menu for everyone. Our meals were all pretty good and reasonably priced.

Rang and inquired about the 'Pensioner Specials ' advertised in a local midweek paper.Confirmed they were available and which days. Rang a couple of days latter and booked for 4 people and confirmed the price of $20.00 including dessert or $15.00 without. When we arrived we were not advised that 'Pensioner Specials ' were available only that smaller size meals were available with 3 items. The items we had were in that list and frankly if they had been any smaller they would have been an entree. Waited 35 minutes for our meals even though only two others had ordered before us. Left feeling ripped off. Meal quality was great, Paid over $100.00 for four meals, two handles of beer,an orange juice and a coke. Once bitten, twice shy.Wileyone
What a gem. Cruising the wine region on a lazy Friday we stumbled across this little pub with no great expectation. There was one other group there so we settled outside in the sun. NZ had turned the weather on for us and it was a perfect day. My wife had the open steak sandwich and I got the pork belly calamari and prawn Thai salad. Excellent. Generous in size and great value fir money. Look there was no one else there so the food came out quick so I can't comment on what it would be like on a busy day but I was very impressed and left very satisfied. If the weathers right and the crowds are down then try this place.
The Gladstone is really a package deal that can't simply be reviewed on the basis of one particular aspect. You need to combine atmosphere, food, beer, the pleasant drive or ride to Gladstone and the feeling evoked by knowing that Gladstone is one of the increasingly rare country pubs in the Wairarapa. It is also one that has been successful because of what it has to offer and being a successful county pub is no mean feat. <br/ <br/ Bogan free, this is a pub that attracts farming types, elderly bikers and families out for a drive. The food is ok, the beer ok and sitting outside on a sunny day will invariably draw you back again.<br/ <br/ Going to Gladstone without going to the pub is missing out on something good. It's not Michelin but it is part of our heritage, and that's important.<br/ Recommended
