Visited this restaurant at Liberty Mountain Resort for business in June 2018. We had dinner and my crab cake was good. What outstanding was the dessert. Chocolate dome and fried pecan pies were to die for. View all feedback.
What Paige H doesn't like about Ike's Chophouse:
This is only getting 3 stars because it was fancier than the restaurant across from it. I didn't have good experiences at the other restaurant so when I sat down and realized that it was the same kitchen, I already knew what to expect. The bread plates on our table were disgusting, like they hadn't been washed before. That set the mood right away. It was nice to see that I could order fancier items, and I got the bee... We are local to this restaurant, and decided to try it for Valentines Day dinner. We should have just ordered a pizza and stayed home. We did have reservations, and when we arrived, we were seated in the middle of the restaurant, under very bright lights. There were tables to each side with subdued lighting, but every one had a reserved sign on it. We ordered s bottle of wine and an appetizer of scallops with “caviar” on top. for $18 . 2, count them 2 were served. That’s $9 a piece! And the “caviar” was large red fish eggs. More like fish bait. And that’s just the beginning. We each ordered the filet, medium rare. With it came a Caesar salad. Which was some chopped up romaine lettuce with a pinch of Parmesan cheese, and 2 croutons. On a 6 inch plate. There was some dressing, but I wouldn’t call it Caesar. It tasted more like French. Yuck! Our main course came out over cooked and lukewarm. The fillet was about 1 inch thick, we got about a tablespoon and a half of potatoes, and the plate was filled out with spinach. I sure hope you like spinach. Our wine was adequate, twist off top and all. But the service... It was very fast. I mean very fast. We were hardly finishing what was in front of us when the next course came. The wine was opened by our waitress, she filled both glasses, and reached in front of my husband to give me my wine. It was not offered to my husband to approve of the bottle at all. I was very surprised at that. Then her and the bus girl kept reaching across the table in front of us to deliver and clear the plates. We were not offered desert, but we would not have ordered it anyway. I watched as , when other patrons paid the check, a Rose was presented to the ladies. I was not given the same respect. Keep in mind, we were dressed impeccably. We were hoping to have a romantic evening out, but our date was ruined. We went home very disappointed. We will not return. By the way , my view was of the parking lot. Shame on you! Remember we are local and will be telling our neighbors and friends of our experience. We have had better food and service at a diner and not had to pay over $150. You have been warned.
Last nite we decided to check out Ike's Chophouse for the first time. We have been in the Owl and Eagle a number of times and were not impressed. Service is not especially efficient. However, our visit to Ike's last nite [friday dec 21 2018] left us pleasantly surprised. The server, Sarah, was excellent [and her apprentice jak also]. Sarah took the time to explain the menu changes, and the specials, and to remember that I was gluten free when I was ordering. She also volunteered to check with chef to see if certain menu items were GF. The prime rib special was well cooked and served with mashed potatoes and haricot vert [green beans] . My airline chicken with pesto sauce was delicious. She offered to substitute another dessert since I could not eat the ones with the special dinners. Several supervisory personnel checked in to see how we were doing, and thanked us for coming in. All in all, a good meal, and great service from Sarah! I would be remiss if I didn't also mention that the dining room was almost empty, so perhaps that contributed to our leisurely dining experience, but I hope it won't prevent Ike's from maintaining the excellent service and great food.
Service is slow. Very loud groups. Would not recommend it.
If you like your crab cakes to be pre made and stuck in the walk in for a week, then dropped in the deep frier next to the kids chicken fingers, this place is for you. Pro Tip: if you do crab cakes, do them right. Or rename them crab hush puppies. We’re ten minutes from MD.
