A wonderful place with wonderful people and wonderful food.
I have been in this restaurant a few times, usually with a bunch of friends and relatives. It is located on top of a hill between Atessa and Casalanguida but it is a bit hard to find so one needs to ask some local to get appropriate directions. I am a local myself (even though I no longer live in the area and at the beginning I had a hard time finding it). I believe that it usually only works on weekends and one needs a reservation. The meal normally includes a huge antipasto (that is appetizers) that includes usually around 10 or so different appetizers prepared by the owner Rocco and his family. The appetizers are homemade and with products of the local agriculture. It is really abundant and then you will get a pasta dish (primo) and some meat (secondo). Usually the appetizers are a fixed menu item but while making the reservation you can specify whether you would like to have two different pasta dishes and different kinds of meat or skip some dish. When you make the reservation, they will tell you a fixed cost per person, and of course it depends on how many courses you order besides the antipasto. The price includes drinks, coffee and a bunch of homemade liquors to choose from. Considering the quality and the quantity of the food, it can be considered inexpensive. In any case, keep in mind that if you get a complete meal, then it is really abundant, so it is better not to order too many things beside the antipasto. The food they prepare is typical from the Abruzzo region and it is very tasty. I highly recommend this place.
Family run restaurant on a farmhouse, all dishes are made from their own ingredients including the wine and desert liquor! They do not have menu, you pay 25 euros including everything. They served first antipasti if we counted right 11 different dishes including prosciutto, cheeses, stuffed tomatoes, stuffed flowers of zucchini etc. etc. Then a little bit of pasta with trufels. For main course lamb and sausages and pork and afterwards fruits and then raspberry cake. Just fantastic food and very local dishes ! The son of the family speaks excellent English and he told us a lot about Abruzzo and the history etc. Please note that you need to book table beforehand. This is the place where the locals go so it can be full. If you have difficulties to find the place which is located in a beautiful hill and having stunning views towards the valley), just ask anyone from the village.
Lunch of August in the family. This is the second time we come to this place. All great, from appetizers to bitters, Friendly, kind and professional staff! All excellent! Recommended!
