We are desperate to see the game and have asked just about everyone in Car... read more Saturday 8th of July......The Lions are playing New Zealand in the deciding 3rd test. We are desperate to see the game and have asked just about everyone in Carnac if they know where the game might be screened. Despite a minor hangover form the night before we scour the streets close to the beach where all the bars/cafes/restaurants are at about 0900 hrs (game kicks off at 0935) and most of the French are either still in bed or oblivious to the fact that one of the greatest sporting events in the world is imminent!. Anyway we give up and the only argument then with the Mrs is where do we have our coffee and croissant for breakfast. She wants to go by the beach but I spot this small bar which has a raised area with the sun shining on it and I suggest we go there. I actually win for a change and in we pop sit down and order coffee/croissant/pan au chocolat etc from a very prompt and courteous man serving. Whilst awaiting aforementioned morning stimulants I hear a bit of noise coming from inside of the bar which makes me a little curious noting the streets are mainly deserted and most places still have their shutters down. I step inside to have a look .........I giant screen is ablaze with live coverage from Auckland with a dozen or so like minded people that have struck lucky as well. I whistle the Mrs in and take a seat for over 2 hrs enthralling and stunning theatre! OK the above is almost irrelevant for most people but more importantly the coffee was superb and so were the pastries etc. Service excellent as well. Mind you if the coffee was cold and the pastries old you still would have got a 5! I would have gone back in the evening for a drink but we left Carnac that afternoon.
