Shige Sushi - Carmichael
Shige Sushi
Description
The dining experience at this small mom-and-pop sushi restaurant evokes mixed feelings among patrons. While the fresh, high-quality sushi and flavorful appetizers like shishito peppers have garnered praise, the service leaves much to be desired. Reports of rude waitstaff, order errors, and inconsistent service have frustrated many customers. The restaurant, which has shifted ownership, seems to have lost the charm that made it a favorite in the past. Although some diners appreciate the intimate atmosphere and delectable dishes, reliability issues, including erratic hours, may deter loyal patrons from returning. Explorers of Sacramento's sushi scene might want to keep their options open.

BBQ Albacore, Wakame Salad (from Oto's), tenpura veggies, tenpura shishito starters were all as expected. Saporro and Echigo stout were right in temperature and taste. Chirashi Sushi and nigiri/shishimi Combo dinners were fresh and properly prepared. Service was incompatible and ordered items were forgotten or delayed.
Absolutely wonderful! Quality ingredients well used, the flavors are present in every bite, and you leave full and content. Service was on the point, they have great roles and daily specialties. That's right. The dining area is intimate and cozy, they are not a trendy alternative to a bar/club like some sushi joints trying to be, they are exactly what you want when you want sushi. Reliable, clean and consistent.
Came here from word of mouth / views online. We made a reservation and we're sitting right away. Very small mother and pop place, so I highly recommend to call before time as they only work with 50% capacity. Excellent sushi some of the best I ever had. The appetizers were also delicious, we had the schishito paprika. I definitely come back!
The best real Japanese sushi in Sacramento hands down. Their take on the newer roll styles are unbeatable as well.
