Excellent value for money and delicious food. They had a high chair too which was great as we have a 14 month old. They also gave her a free bowl of chicken noodle soup. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Colorful Yunnan:
Tried to eat here last night. We wanted to make small changes to some dishes to make them less spicy and were told that it wasn't possible. Also don't bother if you are a vegetarian and want to eat on a Saturday night you won't be accommodated. We walked out. View all feedback.
The restaurant has recently been renovated and now offers a welcoming atmosphere with lots of natural light and ample space. The standout feature of this place is the delicious and unique Chinese cuisine, particularly the regional dishes from Yunnan. With a wide range of options to choose from, you will definitely be spoilt for choice. The prices are reasonable, the service is friendly, and overall, you will not be disappointed with your dining experience.
If you want to experience more than Chinese infused food and not afraid of different taste I can only recommend the restaurant. We look forward for this restaurant to open up a branch in Adelaide.
I don't have any other word, just want to enjoy every bite and every spoon of the soup, slowly... Last time I have this feeling was eating hot spicy beef rice noodle in my home town, really miss the life there. :S
Chinese colleagues assured me this was their favourite Chinese eating haunt and it is remarkably full of young Chinese who order meals delivered in remarkably decorative ways but I must say my meal was a real disappointment. I ordered the spicy tongue dish but the tongue was so tough, it had lost the tender flavoursome lusciousness that makes tongue so very good, instead it was like thin bits of boot leather with fried sliced potato I think. The whole meal was very oily and indigestible, the hot chilis being the best bit! I will try again with my colleagues but be led by their choices. This is also a very expensive restaurant compared with many other similar restaurants in the area. I am assured you get big helpings but when the food is as awful as this I am not sure that a larger helping is advantageous!
Yunnan is a mountainous province in southwest China, famous for its ethnic diversity, flowers and spicy food. After dilly-dallying over eating at Colourful Yunnan, we dropped in for a meal and we were glad that we did. We had two dishes, which were more than sufficient for the two of us. The vegetables were a combination of broccoli, cauliflower and lotus root, which is quite rare in Australia. We also had smoked pork ribs with potatoes and lots of chilli. We ended up taking some of the ribs home. I also had a house speciality, chilled coconut juice with croutons. Although it was a Monday night, Colourful Yunnan had a full house, but the young wait staff were on top of it all. Colourful Yunnan also has outlets in East Burwood and Box Hill.
