Easily 5 Stars. Extremely Cosy restaurant and wonderful host. We almost tried all the items on the menu, it was very well made. My favourite dish is the Lamb Tajine with Apricot. Wrapped the day with Moroccan tea Baklava. Highly recommended View all feedback.
Good food and friendly staff. Ambience is so good with the light and relaxing music. Perfect place to relax your mind. Many good options with drinks and desert. Elaborated menu with a customised food. Overall one of the most amazing place in Melbourne.
MOROCCO. One of the top countries in my travel bucket list and an ideally located culinary location that sees influence from both Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and African cuisine. Casa Tajine, the newly opened Moroccan and Spanish restaurant is a Carlton gem that not only captures the authenticity of this unique cuisine, but also has the vibes that teleports you to the cosy comfort of a Moroccan family household, that is, the home (or “Casa” of the “Tajine.” My very first, and definitely won’t be the last time trying Moroccan food in Melbourne!
You won’t find many Moroccan restaurants in Melbourne at the moment, so Casa Tagine comes as a breath of fresh air. The menu varies slightly day to day, but you’re sure to find a selection of small bites, soups, and of course, tagines.
Casa Tajine wows diners with its authentic Moroccan cuisine, skillfully prepared with love by the talented kitchen staff. The menu features wonderfully flavorful dishes that showcase influences from Arab, Mediterranean, Spanish, neighboring African, and Middle Eastern cuisines. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the variety of dishes on offer.
The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and comfortable, with Moroccan lights adding to the inviting atmosphere. The food was delicious, starting with an eggplant chopped salad and a pepper shakshuka served with traditional bread. The smokey flavor of the eggplant reminded me of my mother's homemade dip, and the shakshuka was flavorful with perfectly cooked eggs. For mains, we enjoyed lamb, vegetable, and chicken tagines. The lamb was tender with prunes and apricots that complemented the dish well. The rice served with the lamb was the best my husband had ever eaten. The chicken tagine was cooked perfectly, with delightful spices and moist meat. The vegetable tagine was also tasty, although I would have preferred a different texture than dried fruits. Overall, we had a great dining experience at Casa Tagine and will definitely return. The portion sizes were satisfying for the price paid, and we left with full and happy bellies. The family-run business adds a personal touch to the dining experience, with the family members cooking for the guests. It's definitely worth a visit.
