Le Papagayo Carlsbad

The restaurant has a large and varied menu. We shared the coconut shrimp and Shanghai ribs, both of which were delicious. The portions are huge; the two of us couldn’t finish even half of our meal. The service was excellent, and there was great live music, as well as a large screen TV for watching sports. We’re planning to come back for breakfast tomorrow and enjoy happy hour on Tuesday!

Next came the food, which perfectly catered to our group's varied tastes. Our waiter, Ducky, truly stood out as one of the best servers I've encountered in a long time. Since the pandemic, I've noticed that many servers seem burnt out, but Ducky was a refreshing change. He was friendly, relaxed, and made our entire table feel warm and welcomed. A great server can really enhance a restaurant experience, and Ducky went above and beyond, making our day truly memorable. If you visit, definitely ask for Ducky – you won’t be disappointed! This is a fantastic addition to the expanding selection of large restaurants in Carlsbad. The menus are unique and varied, offering plenty of options. It's a spacious venue with quiet tables as well as seating right on the stage with live music. I tried the French dip sandwich, one of my all-time favorites, and it did not disappoint! The ambiance is really fun, and it was quite busy during our visit. I definitely plan on returning.

Cannot say enough about how good this place is. I was just once, but it was so fantastic that I gave it five stars. they have fries that I would never order, but my friend ordered and she offered me and I could not believe how delicious a French frit could be. it had truffle parmesan or something on it, absolutely gourmet. the prices are lower than the encinitas stalls. this place has simple parking and just a few minutes walk from the city of carlsbad, makes it fun to park and explore the opposite. the personal was wonderful. everything was great.

Nice to finally have somewhere to dine after 9:00 p.m. Enjoyed the live music and good service from Jill. Food was hit or miss. Salad and desserts were good, but the short rib stroganoff was uninspiring and our artichoke appetizer was lukewarm. We still enjoyed our evening and will definitely go back.
