The food at this restaurant was incredible, beautifully presented with fantastic flavors. The staff were very friendly and the chef even prepared something special for me that wasn't on the menu. I can't wait to come back again. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Joe's Chinese:
We have used this restaurant/ take away for last years and it was great in the beginning… However the last visits were disappointing. Quality is getting worse… when they start serving stale prawn crackers you know there are problems. Ordered Fillet Beef in Green Pepper Black Bean Sauce on last two occasions… it’s not fillet beef and the peppers are not cooked fresh. They are pre cooked in a disgusting “Tar” like sauc... We phoned Joe's for a Chinese takeaway at approximately 18.15 and were Informed it would be approximately 45 minutes. After an hour and 15 minutes we phoned for an update which the worker was unsure of and stated the driver would phone us. When the driver phoned she stated he would be up in approximately ten minutes with the food. We queried if the food was fresh as it was now 45 minutes late which it was explained it would be fresh. After almost two hours the food arrived and it was clear it was not cooked fresh as the shredded chicken was cold and rubbery, the honey chicken was the same and the chicken curry was cold and clumped together. The food wasn't appealing at all and unedible, put back into the bag and for the bin. We phoned the restaurant and explained this and we told they would give us credit and it was explained it was a Sunday evening meaning they are very busy. Fresh food was not offered and we highlighted we understand they are busy but expect our food to be cooked fresh and would understand that it takes longer and wouldn't mind if it was explained when order was took and it was cooked fresh for us not left sitting and waiting. The order was left short rice which was the second time it happened us in recent times and appears to be a common reoccurrence. We won't be back. My recommendation would be to tell people their order will take longer or don't take as many orders if you cannot provide it fresh to the customer. Customer service was not good but one positive is the delivery driver who was polite, mannerly and understanding.
I live a stone's throw from the restaurant and decided to try it! I regretted it! I had just returned from Dublin and was hungry, but when I went to carry the order out, the bag was nearly light as a feather, I took the bag of chips out, a bag so small it wouldn't fill a small child. I went back in and said it to them, he made me wait, and cam back with a bag just as small, they were reheats, a bag of pointy reheats, barely a full chip in the whole bag. I only realized the mains was in such a thin container, wayyyy smaller than you're average take out tub. I understand its a business and you have to do what you can, but that was a **** take. I ordered Satay and it didn't even taste of it, there was maybe 3 bits of veg in it, tiny tiny veg..I've more pepper in my fridge than there was in the tub! So now I'm still hungry and dreaming of the big mac I planned to get in the first place! Lol....you live and learn...I won't be going near it again.
I arrived just after opening at 16h and ordered wan ton soup, which was ok and salt and chili sea bass. That arrived soggy and greasy and had clearly been done in a deep fat frier that was not hot enough. When I sent it back, I was told that it would be done again. Instead what came back was clearly the same nuggets, fried again. Now crunchy and flavoursome, but the fish was dry. The service is surly. Will not return.
It was a total waste of money and the Customer service was very poor. Also the food didn’t taste like proper Chinese. I would never recommend.
I love this restaurant. Such lovely staff and the food is beautiful. They are always busy but you never feel rushed. Such an enjoyable experience. We will bve back soon
