Description

A recent visit to a restaurant in Cardiff for dinner left some patrons disappointed due to the quality of the food. Some described the chicken burger as the worst they had ever experienced and the menu offerings were limited. Another guest found the lamb cawl and steak ale pie to be subpar, with unbalanced flavors and a metallic aftertaste. Despite the negative food reviews, some guests enjoyed the drinks and the cozy atmosphere of the bar. Service was a mix of friendly and attentive staff, with some highlighting positive interactions with the servers. Overall, the restaurant showed potential for improvement in various areas to enhance the dining experience for customers.

This place is closed, but still accepting bookings. Booked lunch before match and arrived, whole place locked up. Restaurant next door told us it has been closed since start January.

Absolutely fabulous experience! This was my first time trying Welsh food, and greatly enjoyed it. Tried the lamb cawl, beef brisket, rarebit and Welsh cakes here. All were delicious. I enjoyed the flavours. Great ambience, quick service, convenient central location. What made my experience particularly positive was the staff behaviour. The person (curly hair, spectacles) who welcomed us to our seats outside (sorry I did not have the opportunity to learn their name) really made my day with their hospitality. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Traditional Lamb Cawl

Very welcoming and caring staff, serving delicious traditional Welsh food in a lovely cosy atmosphere absolutely the right place for one of many rainy days in Cardiff. Definitely recommendable.

We had high hopes for this place but unfortunately we were disappointed by the food. The rarebit was pretty good (6/10). The lamb cawl was fair (4/10) and the steak ale pie was poor (2/10). Both the cawl and the pie had a bad slightly metallic aftertaste. The pie was way too salty and flavors were unbalanced (we couldn’t finish it because it was so unpalatable a rarity for us). We hope they can improve in the future!

Welsh soup, Cawl Cymreig in Welsh, is a mutton and vegetable stew cooked by Welsh people in winter. On March 1, St David, the patron Saint of Wales Day is a day that every household will bring out their own version to commemorate and celebrate. The proportion of ingredients varies, but most of them use seasonal vegetables, plus leeks, potatoes, rutabagas/Swedish turnips ? The translation is so beautiful, it means Swede), radishes, etc., and are stewed with beef or sheep. The slow-cooked Cawl Cymreig lamb in this restaurant can be forked easily, and the vanilla flavor is at the back. I loved eating this stomach-warming thing after being out for a long time that day! I also tried the Welsh rarebit, caws pobi . The bread is crispy and then spread with a prepared cheese sauce on top and then baked. The secret of this dish that is said to have appeared in the 18th century is in the sauce. In addition to cheddar cheese, it usually also includes Brown Ale, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. It uses sourdough as the base and chives on top to neutralize the greasy, spicy and crunchy texture. Just one bite after another. . . Originally it was called rabbit in English, but due to the lack of rabbits, it was renamed rarebit Follow @toiletpaperkiu to see more, and let’s get together 緷快狠丸
