We were seated near the door, which made for a chilly environment. The focus on smaller, shareable plates meant that our dishes arrived at different times, resulting in some being served cold while we waited for others. While the food quality was evident and it was well-cooked, certain flavor combinations didn't quite hit the mark, and the portion sizes felt small for the steep prices. Additionally, the service lacked warmth and attentiveness, and there was an automatic 15% service charge added to the bill. Ultimately, we found Mesen to be overpriced and underwhelming. This was our first time dining there, and we thoroughly enjoyed a variety of outstanding dishes, including marmite flatbread, faggots, chicken chasseur, sea bream, and chocolate fondant for dessert. The atmosphere wa... read more I had not been to Mesen before, but I was not disappointed. The food was delicious, and the service was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was lovely as well. I do have a couple of suggestions: the drinks menu could benefit from more alcohol-free options, as it would be great to have some fancy mocktails for those of us who prefer sobriety. Additionally, we would have appreciated having serving cutlery with our dishes instead of using our own, which we had already used. This wasn't a major issue for us, but it could be more hygienic for larger groups. Overall, the experience was fantastic, and I would definitely return.
