We had an excellent meal from wine to main to dessert. The service was great, the lady who served us was very nice and friendly. We had a great time in this cozy local restaurant. View all feedback.
What Christelle Meyer doesn't like about Histoire sans Faim:
Stopped in for lunch and got the set menu. The starter was salty prawns with guacamole. Just about edible. Main course was spaghetti with watery tomato sauce. No consistency, no flavour. Dessert was apple tart, again missing flavour. Disappointing considering all the great TA reviews. Maybe we were just unlucky :-/ View all feedback.
This restaurant offers a 3 course lunch for 13 euros 50. Today there was no choice and no written menu. I think if you don't speak French you will have a problem. I should say that there was a big a la carte menu to look at. I had a typical local salad, fish with green beans and rice followed by creme caramel. The service was excellent and the food tasty.
Gourmet chicken burger steals the show. When one orders a chicken burger, one doesn't expect it to be breaded and served on a bun with a layer of lovely au gratin type potatoes as well as French fries and a salad. Delicious, but not a good choice for someone on a strict diet. Ask questions before you order - if you have food restrictions or allergies, establish what you can eat or have to avoid. The food is excellent, but the menu doesn't clue you in very well to what's actually coming!
We had simple meals which were exquisite. The cassoullet was excellent. The salad vinagrette dressing ma have been the simplest and best I ever had.
Tried this based on TA and had a fabulous meal. Perfect mix of flavours and balance of food - the Cassoulet was fantastic. Great value for money and the most impressive was the kids menu, not only the quantity but the fact the chicken nuggets and chips were all homemade. The one surprise was the fact that on a Friday night in summer, we were the only diners there. l hope that this is not a normal situation, it deserves customers!
Arrived at Carcassonne at 4.30pm and after a quick walk around opted for the nearest restaurant. We were the fist ones in at about 7.30pm which is always a worrying sign, but don't think we could have done better if we had walked the city for another hour. I had the 25€ 3-course menu whilst my wife just ordered the chicken burger. Everything perfect and delicious. Our wine tastes differ so with a half litre each of rose and red at 7€ each, this gave us the ideal solution, and both were very palatable. Highly recommended for food but also the very friendly service from the waitress. Only 6 people in all together so hope they don't go out of business.
