Went 3 times with a local, great experience each time, food fantastic. No need to buy the expensive platters, just have a drink and order a tapas plate.

If you're looking for fine dining, this is not your place BUT if you want GREAT SERVICE from FRIENDLY AND ATTENTIVE STAFF, GREAT FOOD, BEER AND WINE and a SUPER-AUTHENTIC, FUN EXPERIENCE, this definitely is. We stayed in Carboneras for 3 nights and we spent every night here and we're already looking forward to our next visit. Muchas gracias muchachos, you made our good holiday GREAT!

Had a pleasant hour. Ordered 2 small beers and were given small plate of tapas. Very nice sardines (6/7) and a few chips. The sardines were so nice so we then ordered a small plate of sardines (probably got 15 sardines and 6 pieces of bread) and a further 2 small beers. Surprised bill was €20. Seemed a bit steep. Wonder if there’s a two-tier price structure? Have also had similar experience in Garrucha. Such a shame to leave with those thoughts. Subsequently read other reviews which suggest we may have been ripped off as tourists.

Everything was delicious. Good service, too. Excellent tapas for about 2€, more than 10 kinds of fish and seafood at reasonable prices for meals (from 12€, I especially recommend sardines, mussels, tuna, shrimps and emperor fish). Tasty home deserts for 4€. Just in front of the hotel/pension belonging to the same house.

I find myself leaping to the defence of our favourite Carboneras restaurant once again. We ate here several nights and the food was excellent. The slightly too persuasive young couple who have been accused in the past of ripping people off were not to be seen (although we never had any problems with them anyway). The waiters don't speak much English but, as I mentioned before, ask for la carta where the prices are clearly displayed. They are a bit frantic and disorganised but friendly and helpful. Your order is now punched into a touch screen computer and you will be given an itemised bill. The food mostly comes from the Felipe hotel restaurant across the street which did not begin taking orders until 8pm. However, you can order various tapas or a huge plate of sepia a la plancha before then. Portions are extremely generous so don't order too much to start with. Bar Felipe is great fun and popular with the locals but if you want sophistication, go elsewhere.
