We had a house in Capestang for the last 30 years and visited La Bateliere. The location on the side of le Canal du Midi was very pleasant, but the standard fell off as mentioned by others, and we haven't seen it for many years. That was until last May '22, on one day most of the other restaurants in Kapstang were closed, or we couldn't get a table because we didn't book. It is now almost two months after our visit and cannot remember exactly what we have ordered, but meals were really very good and the price reasonable, so much, we have expressed our surprise to each other.
Right on the Canal du Midi in Kapstang, this is a good choice for lunch or dinner. Cheapest prices and friendly service.
The food was okay, but not good. My wife had fish and she commented the sauce and the chips were nice. We don't go back, there will be other better places in town
The food here is very good. There is a wide range of pastas, fish dishes and burgers etc. Prices are slightly higher than other restaurants for this type of kitchen, but you probably pay for the location. The restaurant sits on the Canal du Midi, where all the boats stop for the night. Worth a visit when sitting only and watching all activities with the boats. It's worth eating, but you just need a course.
We stopped for lunch in the recent sweltering heat. Although the outside is covered it seemed to act like a radiator underneath and we overheated. The salads were all fine but nothing to write home about. I had the chèvre chaud which was tasty. I...guess it’s just decent everyday food. Not exactly cheap though.
