Visited on Saturday afternoon. Restaurant has an attached outside bar area, but opted for inside seating. Restaurant very nice, table cloths, linen napkins and such. Seated quickly and service was spot on. Ordered up the beer batered onion ring appetizer, very good. Ordered the stuffed grouper queen cut prime rib. Both delicious. What User doesn't like about Monkey Steak Seafood:
Since my last visit 6 years ago the restaurant has become very run down. There is always something going on in the outside bar, sometimes with entertainment music. The restaurant inside has deteriorated a lot in terms of cleanliness and the burger looks pathetic and doesn't taste good anymore. The chicken pasta was cold and almost inedible. Atmosphere was good. They allow smoking at the table. That was an issue for us. Live music entertaining. Food ok. They were busy and service was slow
I visited the restaurant on Saturday afternoon. While there is an outdoor bar area, I chose to sit inside. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance, complete with tablecloths and linen napkins. We were seated quickly, and the service was excellent. I ordered the beer-battered onion ring appetizer, which was very tasty. For my main course, I had the stuffed grouper and the queen cut prime rib; both dishes were delicious. They do charge a 3.5% fee for credit card payments, which is pretty common these days. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and we spent $80 total, including tip. It was definitely worth it!
I ordered the ribeye, and it was cooked to perfection. The vegetables were delicious as well. My wife had the chicken Alfredo, which was fantastic, and our son chose the NY Strip; he said it was one of the best steaks he has ever had.
The food and entertainment were excellent. However, the hostess outside was quite rude. Guests looking to enjoy a fun and relaxing evening shouldn't have to encounter someone with a negative attitude and poor interpersonal skills.
I've visited this restaurant many times and absolutely love it. However, on my recent visit on a Friday, I encountered a concerning issue with the waitstaff. One of the servers seemed unnecessarily stressed, claiming, "Calm down, we only have 5 servers." We had only waited a few minutes and were not upset at all, so his comments struck me as completely negative. We ended up leaving after just one beer because the attitude of the staff was completely off-putting. Instead, we decided to order takeout from Papa Joe's. This server really needs to reconsider his career choices.
