Simple, a bit bland but totally genuine. Salsiccia alla griglia particularly good. House red wine works well with the cooking. Cinghiale alle cacciatore, crostini, agnello alla grigilia all fine but no comparison to Guido at Magliano for example. We didn't try any of the pasta which we regreted as we saw it go by; we'd definitely go back to try the pasta. Service excellent and always there, very friendly, chatty a really pleasant lunch.
We were on our way to see the Giardino dei Tarocchi and nearby found this great trattoria. My husband had cinghiale alle cacciatore and I had agnello alla gligliata, both which we loved. The house wine was very fresh and satisfying. The waitstaff were all very personable and helpful. The antipasto misto was a good mix of satisfying antipasti.
Finding places like Il Tortello is what makes travel so much fun. We drove through Pescia Fiorentina before lunch and stopped to look around. We came back for lunch and were glad that we did. The tagliatelle with Ragu Al chiangale was one of the best plates of pasta that I have ever had (and I’ve eaten a LOT of pasta. The grilled radicchio was a great contorni. We gambled on the rusticiana (translate said it was rotisserie but it was really spare ribs); no matter, it was delicious. We overordered and overate….the portions are generous. If you’re in Capalbio or nearby, take the drive. You’ll thank me.
A family-run local restaurant, with a pleasant outside terrace, in a small hamlet, near Giardino dei Tarocchi. We had a late lunch there with other clients mostly local working people. Good freshly cooked simple dishes, generous portions.
