The Family Soulfood - Canyon

Five stars on the board! This is not the first soul food restaurant I have eaten in Amarillo and I have enjoyed all so I hate to say I liked each of them the best, but let's just say that this one is up here. I got green black-eyed peas, Mac and cheese, which was definitely homemade, fried ribs that were from this world in texture and taste and because the price was so reasonable I got a piece of buttermilk cake to bring home. I thought I would taste it before I left and then eat half of it, it was so good. Most restaurants do not make very good cake crust, but this place did it right and then some. I sat where I sat on my food and thought how I felt like eating my grandmother. I have not found many places in Amarillo that only regularly serve old peace chicken, that is not chicken fried chicken, but chicken with the bone. This place does so that I must definitely go back and try that. Besides, the peach-cabber certainly sounded good. Actually everything sounded good on the menu. The only reason I wouldn't come back here would be if I left the city what I have to do at some point because I don't really live here, but I'm sure my extended stay and places like this are a reason why.

I'll tell you, if you like Southern food, you have to come here. This is a family-style place and the good reminds you of Grandma cooking. Todd the owner and his family run this place and it is the bomb. If I could give him 10 stars

Came to give the new home-style restaurant an attempt. Todd took our orders. He must be one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Before we came in, there were a group of people on the street standing in the parking lot of the store. I asked the owner what was going on with this group of irritated looking people, and she said they were crazy because she asked them to move their cars as she has limited parking. I know places that wouldn't waste their breath talking to you, they just dragged you. Requisit to the owner for more beautiful than most. To the food. My husband ordered the fried catfish and I ordered daily baked chicken). The food must be ready, but since everything is fresh, I wouldn't expect less. My order came out first. Chicken and rice are great. The severity is really spiced. The sweet potatoes are not from the can. They're fresh. Great differences in the taste of canned products. Green beans are delicious. Corn bread is sweet as I like it). Next is the catfish. Fish had 6 good pieces. Potatoes and engraving were discovered! Corn on the cob was freshly tasted and the okra was cooked for perfection. Come and try it here!! You won't regret it!

Better hungry! Every dish I had was delicious. The staff is very friendly. Try the Sunday buffet, but you better come to the opening, or you won't get a seat!

This place is heaven. Wonderful food and even better staff! It felt like I was eating at a friends house. We will most definitely be back. (On Sunday!
